I hired Mr. [redacted] to do my taxes for 2014. He made mistakes in filing which lead to me owing a large amount, and he has been unwilling to fix. I brought CBS, Mr. [redacted] a 1099 form, and a W-2 form to do my taxes(Tax Year 2014) in March of 2015. He filed the 1099 form twice on my return, and the mistake wasn't caught until they had been sent off. After realizing his mistake, about an hour after I left, I got a call explaining what happened and was asked to come back to sign off on the corrections. I did, and was told all was good and paid the revised amounts owed. Three months later I recieved letters from the state of NC, and federal IRS stating that I still owed the original amount, minus the smaller amount I'd paid. I calling CBS repeatedly, and trying to get Mr. [redacted] on the phone. Was unable to, and after about two weeks of this I was told by receptionist that I might as well make an appointment and come back to discuss it since he wouldn't return my calls/messages. After meeting with him, we found out that he had not sent in the revised paperwork. I was told that they would be in the mail that day. About a month later I called in to the IRS, and was told that they were recieved and would take a few weeks/months to be updated. Thats normal, so I made arrangements for the amount due so that I would not fall into collections with federal and state for the larger, incorrect amount owed. In September I recieved a letter from the State of North Carolina that I still owed the original amount. After spending a few hours on the phone with the state, and federal IRS again. I found out that Mr. [redacted] had not sent the State revision in, only the federal. This was around the 23rd of September. I immediately called Mr. [redacted], and reached a receptionist. I explained the situation, and asked to have him return my calls. After a week of no return call I called again, again asking for a return. I have not to this day been able to contact him. I have called at least a dozen times, and left as many messages. I also went to the buisness 2 times, despite it being in a different county due to a recent move. He was unavailable/not in office each time. Was promised a return call by the receptionist each time. This went on for over a month. Finally I called again, just asking for a copy of the revised tax return so I could send it in myself. After about three weeks of asking for that as well, it was not sent to me, or even available for pickup. He is apparently the only one with access to that information, and would not email/fax or even make a copy and leave it for me to pick up. After nearly six weeks of trying to get in contact with him, I'd given up on any help from him I spend about 12 hours back and forth between the state and federal IRS I was able to get everything straightened out. All of this could have been solved by a simple copy of the revision to fax to the state. I still have not received any sort of response from CBS, or Mr. [redacted] about any of this. Desired SettlementI would at least like the fee I paid Mr.[redacted], $80 returned. I know the Revdex.com cannot help with any of this, just stating what I think is a fair repayment; it could have been solved by 5 minutes of Mr.[redacted]s' time and a simple fax. It has taken me 8 months, and about 20 hours to get it all straightened out myself. I don't expect CBS or Mr.[redacted] to make it right, or even contact me with an apology, but Mr.[redacted] charged me $80 for about 30 minutes of his time.
