Review: Coastal Mechanical was hired to determine the problem on my grandmothers LUXAIRE AC unit and provide options on resolving this matter appropriately. Instead, the technician placed freon in the unit without my permission. Then advised me that they will have to come back out on a separate service call to repair the leaking condensor coles. Why place freon in a leaking unit? Why not give me the option before using $150 worth of freon on a leaking unit to replace the cole. The inital charge was $292.00 for service which was a waste of money. [redacted] advised me they could have the AC unit repaired correctly for an additional $650.00.Desired Settlement: I'm requesting at the least a refund of the Freon cost? ($150) Why would the company fill a leaking unit up with freon that will leak out? Perhaps its a way to increase profits by providing doulbe the work. If fixed correctly the first time I would have been out of $650. Since they need to come out again there profits will be $292.00 for the intial service, plus $650.00 for second service call.
