Product dissatisfactionMy husband and I purchased a vehicle last year from a local dealer, Coastal Plains Cars, in Morehead City. It is an older vehicle and we understood this but we have had dozens of used vehicles that have not had the issues this vehicle has had. It is a [redacted] that we bought for our teenage son to travel back and forth to school (4 miles from our home). Since we purchased the vehicle in 2013 for $5000.00 we have spent almost $5000.00 in repairs. We understand that older vehicles have issues but this soon became a monthly occurance. My son recently had a fender bender and discovered that the breaks were non existent when we took the vehicle to a different garage. My husband explained to the new mechanic that we just had the slip joint repaired and the new mechanic said that he had never heard of that part before. We are now wondering if many of the repairs that we have paid for were really needed. We replaced the transmission and was charged for half of the cost when we complained. We had the vehicle at the [redacted] (which is owned by the same person as Coastal Plains Cars) and paid $615.00 for repairs in January. When my son picked up the car, he told the mechanic that his brake lights were on and showed him. His reponse was that "it was not a big deal and that his girlfriend has the same vehicle and her brake light is always on". We believe that this was neglegent on the part of the mechanic. We recently paid $1573.50 for a brake master cylinder and drive train. We believe that the person who owns this dealership and garage knew that there was a problem with the brakes and didn't tell us. We only know him as Thomas. We would like to file a complaint and try to recover some of the money we have had to spend. We would also like to help prevent this from happening to another person. If you can help, we would appreciate it.Desired Settlement$5,559.82

In July of 2015, I traded a 2006 [redacted] F-250 pick up truck to Coastal Plains Auto Warehouse of Morehead City for a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. Within 60 miles of purchase, the check engine light came on. I returned three times that same day to have it checked out and repaired. The owner simply reset the computer repeatedly, stating it would extinguish itself. It did not. I had the vehicle hooked up to an independent computer which stated that the catalytic converter and O2 sensors were faultly. I brought the vehicle back again to be repaired many many more times over the past 14 months. During this time it failed inspection for the same issues, and others. I was given a one time waiver by the DMV and was told again by the owner of [redacted] that the problem would be resolved. It is now 14 months later and nothing has yet been resolved, in addition, many other issues including faulty brakes have been discovered. I have lost all braking ability 2 times in the last 2 months on heavily congested highways and as yet the sales/service owner has still not addressed any of the mechanical problems. I believe the owner not only knew about the issues prior to selling me this vehicle, but has charged me to make repairs that were never made. This vehicle is a danger to myself and others on the highway, and when I finally told him I wanted my money back was told to take him to court, that I wasn't the first nor would I be the last. My husband died and I am a widow, dependent on this vehicle for doctor appointments and survival. I believe I was sold a lemon and would like to know what my recourse is. Please help.Product_Or_Service: Jeep WranglerDesired SettlementI wish to have the purchase price of this vehicle plus all repair costs I have made refunded to me, as the repairs were never done, or done shoddily as to only mask the problems. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@gmail.comWhat Ms. [redacted] has conveniently forgotten to mention is that she has not paid for any of her requested services or repairs since 9/18/2015. Ms [redacted] was satisfied with the Jeep and all work done UNTIL we requested she at least make nominal payments towards her past due bill of $483.81. She has made NO attempts to show responsibility for the bills incurred. Because of her reluctance to pay for services and repairs rendered we declined to continue working on her Jeep until she brought her account up to date. [redacted] then became angry, texting threats and curses to the owner. She plays the widow, job loss to the hilt expecting free work. The 2003 Jeep was sold AS IS with NO WARRANTY and is not a lemon.Consumer Response Mr. [redacted] is not telling the truth in any correspondences he has made with myself, or with the Revdex.com. The work he states that he has done, has in fact, never been done. I stopped making any type of payment upon learning that the work had not been done, at which time, Mr. [redacted] tried to [redacted] to pay off the bill for said repairs. At that time, he told me my bill was over $1000, minus the $100 first installment which I made. He worked it out to 9 sexual encounters that would be required to satisfy my debt. I again asked him to explain to me what repairs had been made. The check engine light, which came on before I even got home with the vehicle is still on, and has NEVER gone off, except for the several times I went in for the requested repairs, only to turn back on less than 60 miles away on every successive visit. I am including a bill from a national chain which I have recently taken the jeep to, and the mechanic at this chain told me, that not only had the catalytic converters and O2 sensors never been replaced, but the rear caliper had been frozen against my rear tire, there was severe rotor, pad, and shoe damage on all brakes, many leaks, which will be covered in the paperwork I am adding, there was not even a working emergency or parking brake and the vehicle was as unsafe as any they had ever witnessed. the starter is also damaged. When I took the jeep to Mr. [redacted] every month for repairs, he kept it all day, and gave it back to me stating the repairs had been made. they were not. I no longer wish for him to purchase the vehicle back as I have put over $4000 in new repairs, I wish only to be reimbursed for all repairs, and for him to be investigated as I am not the only person he has "cheated" on the inspections process with. His own mechanics told me that they were only resetting the jeeps computer to fool me, and the DMV inspection computers. I am filing a report with Mr. Charles Fuchs of the Morehead City DMV to open an investigation of Mr. [redacted]'s business practices as well as taking him to court. This man is knowingly putting countless lives at stake by selling innocent people vehicles that are not only uninspectable, but grossly unsafe. Final Business Response We will not be responding further to [redacted]'s ridiculous accusations here and look forward to seeing her in court. Regards,
