Review: My car was towed by this company on July 12. My car was mistakenly parked illegally, and this company is authorized to tow due to my error.

The problem I encountered was the towing company's driver demanded more money when I arrived on the lot to pick up my car, then what I was told and quoted by the tow companies dispatch. The driver demanded more money instantly, and was threatening to leave the lot and lock my car back up. He said "I have a busy day, pay me now in cash, or I am locking your car up and leaving"... "do you want your car back or not....."

I mistakenly parked illegally, and I deserved to be towed if that is the what the state requires. I was taken advantage of by having to pay what the driver demanded to get my car back.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund to the amount I was quoted by dispatch.

Review: My husband made the mistaken decision to die of a heart attack while driving through Dewey Beach on October 18th, 2014. [redacted] utilized the services of Coastal Towing since they possessed the area towing contract. If anyone would've called either my son or myself, we would have called AAA since we own a membership. After receiving the news from my son, who was called by Medical Examiner, [redacted], I collapsed in the streets of Lewes. I finally tracked down the whereabouts of my husband's vehicle at Coastal Towing. Mr. [redacted], the owner of the establishment condescendingly and rudely informed me that in order to take possession of the car, I would have to pay $250.00 IN CASH. Even after explaining the circumstances to [redacted], he was unconcerned about my plight and told me, "it's just business." We had to call someone from out of state to immediately drive three hours to Delaware to bring the money or we were told the price would go up another $50.00. When we arrived at his establishment, we noticed VISA, MASTERCARD and DISCOVER decals in the window. Not only did [redacted] insist on collecting the entire amount of $250.00 in cash but wouldn't accept credit cards, nor would he allow me to get my husbands wallet out of the car in order to pay. In addition, state representative Mr. John Atkins of the Lewes area also tried to call [redacted] and intercede. [redacted] told Mr. Atkins to keep his nose out of his business and promptly hung up on him. Mr. [redacted] the State Speaker of the House also tried to intercede with no success. The fact that [redacted] insisted on his "pound of flesh" so he could profit off of someone else's tragedy was appalling.Desired Settlement: I personally think that [redacted] is unfit to hold a state towing contract for the state of Delaware. I would like to see him at least lose his license to tow or refund my $250.00.
