This is in reference to a letter we received from the Revdex.com regarding a complaint filed by a gentleman named *** ***In his complaint he mentioned several issuesI will do my best to address all of them
Mr*** requested that we tow his vehicle to our
facility in order to perform a free diagnostic check on the transmission of his Mercedes Benz EThe results of our diagnostic check, as well as an estimate of repairs were emailed to Mr***They were as follows:
Diagnostic Results: We found the front driveshaft joint had failed, causing major damage to the driveshaft, transmission case, rear brackets and shifter cable assembly
Price to replace the transmission and to make necessary repairs to the aforementioned issues: $
This price is substantially greater than an average transmission repairIf I had to offer an average for a transmission rebuild it would probably fall around $The figures certainly vary, depending on the make and model of a vehicleThe reason for the much higher estimate in Mr***’s case is twofold: 1) His vehicle is a Mercedes Benz with a very expensive transmission; 2) There was MAJOR damage to the driveshaft, transmission case, rear brackets and shifter cable assembly. He paid nothing for the diagnosis; only for the round-trip towing, which was $When we went over the results with Mr*** on the telephone he did not seem surprised by the estimateHis complaint stated the car only needed $in repairsThat is completely false
Regarding the claim we destroyed interior panels: This is completely false
Regarding leaving things unassembled: We completely took the shifter assembly apart in order to assess what was brokenUpon being given the results, Mr*** stated he would get the vehicle back and begin to look for parts himself* told him that he would leave the unit open, as there was catastrophic damage, so Mr*** would be able to see for himself
Regarding screws being “thrown all over the car”: When we removed the shifter cover, it as well as the screws that secured it were left in the floorboard of the front passenger seat(Once again, we informed Mr*** of this by telephone.)
Regarding battery damage: Mr*** called and stated that the tow driver left the key in the ignition, in the “on” position and that it had killed the batteryWe suggested he take it to a local auto parts store to have it testedPlaces like *** and*** will test for no chargeIf it was determined the battery was not good, we offered to replace itAs previously stated, we contract with an independent towing company
Regarding “dirtying” the vehicle: We take the utmost care with our customers’ vehicles. Respectfully, this vehicle came to us filthyWe did not observe any marks made by our technicians
In closing, Coastal Transmission Service has been in business since 1975. We are proud members of the Revdex.com and have never had a rating other than “A.” We offer great work at fair pricesAll work is backed by a quality warrantyAnd we value our customersMr***’s complaint is very difficult to read. There are no punctuations, i.ecommas, periods, etcBut in his complaint he states “grossly overpriced because they knew I was a service member.” Please allow me to state something emphatically: WE GREATLY APPRECIATE OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMENWe proudly offer Military DiscountsAny negative implication inferred to the contrary is deeply upsetting
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance

Complaint:[redacted]
?I am rejecting this response because: After receiving my vehicle damaged by Coastal Transmission Service I purchased 3 parts to repair the damage done to my vehicle by Coastal Transmission service totaling  $173.16 (see attached documents). Total cost of all parts to be replaced on vehicle after purchasing them including the parts recommended by coastal $1567.02 I can provide all receipts to prove this amount. Total cost to have my vehicle towed by Coastal Transmission Service's towing company $350.00. Which Coastal Transmission Service's tow truck company left my battery dead for over 172 hours causing damage to the battery which I want a full refund due to the services not meeting my expectations and damaging my property. Then I was forced to then fix the battery issue on my own due to the fact that Coastal transmission service refused to correct the issue their towing service had caused and the damage Coastal Transmission Service had caused to my vehicle. To prove a point regarding the cost of parts I have attached a documents supporting my statement on the actual cost of the transmission to be $1225.00 with 1 year warranty and parts service and the driveshaft cost only $130 complete and refurbished. I have set up an appointment with a personal full service mechanic who is ATRA, Alldata and ASE certified to install the purchased parts for $400 and has 6 years experience in his field. My personal mechanic highly suggested that I should not use Coastal Transmission Service to do the job due to the outrageous estimate given to me by Coastal Transmission Service and that I should get my money refunded and have coastal transmission pay for the damages they made. Attached are photos of the damage done to my vehicle by Coastal Transmission Service. Total amount owed by Coastal Transmission Service and their Towing company $523.16 for damages occured

This is in reference to a letter we received from the Revdex.com regarding a complaint filed by a gentleman named [redacted]. [redacted]. In his complaint he mentioned several issues. I will do my best to address all of them.

Mr. [redacted] requested that we tow his vehicle to our facility in order to perform a free diagnostic check on the transmission of his 1996 Mercedes Benz E320. The results of our diagnostic check, as well as an estimate of repairs were emailed to Mr. [redacted]. They were as follows:
Diagnostic Results: We found the front driveshaft joint had failed, causing major damage to the driveshaft, transmission case, rear brackets and shifter cable assembly.
Price to replace the transmission and to make necessary repairs to the aforementioned issues: $8274.15.
This price is substantially greater than an average transmission repair. If I had to offer an average for a transmission rebuild it would probably fall around $2000. The figures certainly vary, depending on the make and model of a vehicle. The reason for the much higher estimate in Mr. [redacted]’s case is twofold: 1) His vehicle is a Mercedes Benz with a very expensive 722.3 transmission; 2) There was MAJOR damage to the driveshaft, transmission case, rear brackets and shifter cable assembly.  He paid nothing for the diagnosis; only for the round-trip towing, which was $350. When we went over the results with Mr. [redacted] on the telephone he did not seem surprised by the estimate. His complaint stated the car only needed $1700 in repairs. That is completely false.

Regarding the claim we destroyed interior panels: This is completely false.

Regarding leaving things unassembled: We completely took the shifter assembly apart in order to assess what was broken. Upon being given the results, Mr. [redacted] stated he would get the vehicle back and begin to look for parts himself. [redacted] told him that he would leave the unit open, as there was catastrophic damage, so Mr. [redacted] would be able to see for himself.

Regarding screws being “thrown all over the car”: When we removed the shifter cover, it as well as the screws that secured it were left in the floorboard of the front passenger seat. (Once again, we informed Mr. [redacted] of this by telephone.)

Regarding battery damage: Mr. [redacted] called and stated that the tow driver left the key in the ignition, in the “on” position and that it had killed the battery. We suggested he take it to a local auto parts store to have it tested. Places like [redacted] and[redacted] will test for no charge. If it was determined the battery was not good, we offered to replace it. As previously stated, we contract with an independent towing company.

Regarding “dirtying” the vehicle: We take the utmost care with our customers’ vehicles.  Respectfully, this vehicle came to us filthy. We did not observe any marks made by our technicians.

In closing, Coastal Transmission Service has been in business since 1975.  We are proud members of the Revdex.com and have never had a rating other than “A.” We offer great work at fair prices. All work is backed by a quality warranty. And we value our customers. Mr. [redacted]’s complaint is very difficult to read.  There are no punctuations, i.e. commas, periods, etc. But in his complaint he states “grossly overpriced because they knew I was a service member.” Please allow me to state something emphatically: WE GREATLY APPRECIATE OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN. We proudly offer Military Discounts. Any negative implication inferred to the contrary is deeply upsetting.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
