Was quoted $258 for door ding repair & car to be ready same day, NEVER notified that the price changed to $448 and couldn't get my car until next day.I was quoted $258 dollars to fix a door ding on my passenger side door and told that my car would be available to pick up at the end of the day. The only notification I had was that my car would not be ready to pick up that day and it was not until I deliberately asked if the price was going to change: I was told the price had increased to $344. I argued that I was never told there would be a price increase and that I would settle things once I came in to get my car. When I called the next day to see if my car was ready to pick up I was then told that the price had changed to $448!! Almost double my initial quote! I argued over and over again that it was not fair that I was NEVER told that there would be a price increase and they did the work on my car anyways. If I had been told beforehand the cost I would have been able to make my own decision whether I wanted the work done or not with that dramatic price increase and no way would I have agreed to spend almost $500 for a minor car blemish.Desired SettlementI would like to at least get the money back that I was told from the first price increase. $114. I feel that that is a fair compromise given that I was at least told that price over the phone.Business Response /[redacted]/This is in response to the complaint filed by [redacted]. Case number XXXXXXXXShe stated she was quoted $258 for the repair. Coats did not write the original estimate. It was written by [redacted] quoted her $258. Coats started the work off the [redacted] estimate. When Ms. [redacted] dropped off the vehicle for repair, she questioned what she would owe. The [redacted] adjuster on premises as well as the Coats employee that assisted her, both told her that she would be responsible for anything up to $500.00.She was told that there was always a possibility of a supplement once a vehicle goes into the shop. (A supplement is additional damage/work not addressed on the original estimate).Coats did not see the vehicle until it was dropped off for repair on 9-29-14. Ms. [redacted] states thatshe was never notified that there was a price change. Attached please find the notes from the file which are time and date stamped. Ms. [redacted] was contacted on X-XX-XX and the supplement wasdiscussed. She was told that the damage was still under her deductible. The additional work was needed to restore the vehicle back to pre-accident condition. The vehicle is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, Bronze in color. As per the attached photo's, please take note where the damage was located. The repair area that was addressed was close to the rear door . When this happens, we do what is called a paint blend. This is done to assure a color match so that it will not be obvious that the door had been painted. Given the fact that it was a newer vehicle, and bronze, it needed to be blended even though there was no damage to the rear door. Otherwise it would have been obvious that the door was painted. Ms. [redacted] would not have been happy with the results had a paint blend not been done.I don't know where Ms. [redacted] got the $344.00 from. If you look at the estimate that is attached, on page 5 you will see that the original estimate amount of $258.40 and the supplement for the additional work in the amount of $189.60. This totals the $448.00 she was charged for the repair.Due to the fact that the repair did take a day longer than promised, Coats is willing to reimburse Ms. [redacted] for the rental if she paid out of pocket. She just needs to come by with the invoice and we will reimburse her. We cannot reimburse her for the repair due to the fact that the work was necessary to restore the vehicle back to pre-accident condition and she was made aware of the supplement process by both [redacted] and the staff at Coats.

This shop is very unproffesional. The manager yelled at me over the phone and hung up on me. Her name is [redacted]. She immediately called me back and yelled at me on my voicemail because I didn't answer. Then she called the body shop that I was going to instead and told them they were stealing her customers. They were unwilling to explain to me why they had to use a low estimate from my insurance company. I simply didn't understand the purpose of them not doing their own estimate. I wanred them to fully look at my car. Drive it and tell me the cost for repairs. She accused me of insurance fraud which was absolutely preposterous. It was a very stressful experiance. I would not recommend anyone do business with the likes of her.

[redacted] asked me to use COATS to fix a cosmetic issue I had with my bumper after an accident. COATS was not involved in the quoting process and deferred to [redacted] for any questions about the work they were going to complete.
COATS asked me how often I wanted to be contacted during the repair process. I indicated daily, which they did not do. They took double the estimated time to do the repair work and actually took my car somewhere else for some of the work (I was not informed that they were going to do this).
When I went in to pick up the car, the bumper was not fully attached to the car (it was crooked and the seams did not meet evenly). When I spoke to the owner about it, he indicated that he thought it was because the part was A/M and got [redacted] to replace it with a new part.
When I went to pick up the car after the second repair, there was no change in the appearance. The owner, [redacted], yelled at me in the parking lot when I told him I was not satisfied with the work. He told me that I was looking at it with too critical of an eye and would not even look at my concerns. He told me there was nothing he could do to help me. He was very hostile, unprofessional, and made me very uncomfortable. It was an extremely inappropriate situation. When I continued to question him on next steps he finally told me to just leave the car and stormed off.
I ended up taking the car with me, not wanting to deal with COATS any further. The manager, [redacted], did follow up and apologize, which I appreciated.
In addition to the bumper appearance, they returned my car with some kind of black liquid all over my back seat (not sure where this would have come from). They also somehow managed to use a half a tank of gas, which is concerning.
If you want your car fixed correctly, this not the right place to go.
