A car ran into my living room and side bedroom window and wall June 9th. The window was completely broken and wall. Also glass flew on my 1 year old sons face as he was laying down in the bedroom. The apartment people did not fix the broken window until June 17th the glass was shattered all over my floor and the windows from inside were not boarded up my 1 year old could of cut his hand on the glass. I was so traumatized from the accident that I did not stay at the apartment for a whole 3 wks and it's not suitable living for me and my child. I asked the apartment to let me out of my lease early which ends July 12th because it's traumatic and not safe for my 1 year old to stay here. The wall still has not been fixed any type of rats, bugs or animal could come through the wall. I am still living at my mother's home because it's not safe and it's scary. The apartment refused to let me out of my lease and also did not offer me to stay in another unit while repairs are being fixed. I do not feel that I should pay them any money because I have not been staying in the apartment because it's glass all over my carpet, window is broke and wall is damaged.
On June 8th, a vehicle accidentally drove into the exterior corner of the complainant’s apartment building. This caused the resident to have some hairline cracks on the interior wall and a cracked window. The glass was intact on the interior portion of the unit and had only broken on the double-paned portion on the exterior. We can provide pictures that show the extent of the damage. The apartment was habitable and was thoroughly cleaned of any debris related to the accident by a maintenance technician. The Property Manager and Assistant Property Manager immediately visited the scene of the accident once it had been reported. They spoke to both the claimant and the person driving the vehicle. There was no mention of broken glass on a child and the claimant responded that she was glad that her son was not injured. All repairs were made in a timely manner.
The timeline of repairs is as follows:
Incident occurred 6/8 Called insurance to file claim 6/8 Glass was cleaned window was boarded up immediately and took photos 6/10-called *** glass to repair window and frame. Since frame was damaged it had to be fabricated to fit 6/11- Insurance adjustor reached out for the first time 6/15 exterior repairs completed 6/17 broken window panes window and frame were replaced Interior was repaired last week of June.
