I purchased a vehicle from here the end of February 2020 for $4600 and some change, it is now towards the end of April and a title was never received. When I called I found out the didnt even have the title in their possession and it wasnt switched to them yet. I asked about selling it back considering I had no title and couldn't do anything. When purchased we had them check the check engine light and was told it was the HVAC system, they cleared the light. Check engine light came on on our way home so I had it checked out to find out it wasnt the hvac system and it was the 6th cylinder valve. When we brought it into them to look it over to see what they would give us on it, they gave us $1200 because of the 6th cylinder valve.
This vehicle was purchased 2/26/20. According to the signed documents in the clients folder, there was no indication of a check engine light on or being checked. There is a signed copy of the Buyers Guide stating that the client was aware of purchasing the vehicle AS-IS. There was no contact from the client stating that there were issues with the vehicle. The client contacted us numerous time in the past 2 weeks in order to obtain information for her title. The client call on 4/24/20 and asked if we were interested in buying the vehicle back. The client was notified that we would only give her what we would give at an auction for the vehicle and that we would need to look at it prior to giving her an offer. The client brought the car around 4:30pm on 4/24/20 in order to have it appraised for a buy back. We notified the client that we would give her $1,200 for her vehicle to buy it back. The client agreed upon the price and told us to write the check into the gentleman's name that was with her. Due to the pandemic, we are still awaiting receipt of the title for this vehicle from Akron Auto Auction and have began escalated steps in order to retrieve the title by 4/25/20 which was communicated with the client prior to the buy back. The check engine light was on when we purchased, they had it checked and wasnt honest about what the code was. My biggest worry isn't all the issues that were with the car, it's the fact that regardless of the pandemic, title departments were indeed opened. When car was purchased on Wednesday 4/26/2020 we paid $4600 that saturday we went and paid the remaining $50 odd dollars. I was informed that the lady that did the titles was on vacation until the following friday and when she got back my title would be processed and sent to me before my 45 day tags expired. So, if it wasnt for the pandemic I would've had to park my car for over 2 weeks because I had expired tags. I was never told they never had the title in hand, it was never in their name and was sold a vehicle they didnt have access to a title to at the time. I was looking into trading it in for something now, but I couldn't do that because I had no title and no answers as to where my title was until I called to see what my options were.
When the vehicle was purchased on 2/26/20, there were no notes in the file stating anything about the check engine light. I am unaware of what was told to the customer as the salesman that was working with them is no longer with us. With that being said the customer came back a few days later to finish paying the remaining balance on her vehicle and again there were no notes stating that there was an issue with the vehicle. There were no complaints at all since then from this customer about the condition of the vehicle. We have a garage and would have gladly helped take care of any issues. The complaints were stemming from the fact that the the client had not yet received her title for this vehicle. Unfortunately, the title was delayed in getting to us from the auction that we purchased the vehicle from. This was explained to the customer the 3 times she called last week. We were finally able to get the title sent out on Friday 4/24/20, the same day that this vehicle was purchased back from the client. The client was made aware of the situation going on with the title and still decided that she wanted to sell the vehicle. With the current situation, all tags and license that have expired since March 9 2020 remain valid until 90 days after the end of the State of Emergency according to Governor and the memos sent out by the Ohio DMV. We have no issues working on vehicles or doing what we can to make the sale right. If the client would like, they can bring the $1,200 back to the car lot and pick up their vehicle with the title. We would need about 30-60 minute notice in order to get the title into the clients name since we put the tile straight into the car lots name when we got it due to buying the vehicle back. That is the only option that is left at this point in order to resolve this issue. Please let us know what we can do to move forward.
