The $charge this customer is referring to, is for the Service Call to come to his home and diagnose the the repair neededIn this case, the manufacturer does not pay for diagnostics when the problem comes from any source not within the appliance itself, Water coming into the appliance that contains grit, sand or any other foreign bodies is not covered by the manufacturerNo additional charge was made for our courtesy of cleaning the debris from the water valveOnly our time and trip for coming to the customers residence and performing this diagnostics was charged.Our tech ran the washer while he was there and the washer was working and went through a complete cycle.If the washer was not working after we left and they had simply called us to advise us of the problem, we would certainly come back out and rechecked for any additional problems they were having and it would have been under the same Service Call chargeHowever, refusal to pay for our time to come out up front, as this customer did, would negate any further service on any of their appliances in the future.Sincerely,Joe C [redacted] OWNERCoflin Refrigeration and Appliance

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***0, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
This was a warranty service set up by the Whirpool Company, it was not a service call. If they could not find any thing wrong with the washer, they should have explained this to the owner. They stated that they ran a full cycle and found nothing wrong. The only cycle used was the quick wash cycle, which the owner knew worked. If they would have ran the cycle the problem would have been evident. The Whirpool company set this appointment up therefore the call was paid for by Whirpool, with no expense to the owner. Once again if they did something not covered by the warranty, they should have explained that what they were going to do, was not covered, and given the owner the opportunity to reject the service. No work should have been performed with out the owners consentThe machine is still not working correctly.
