Cohen's Fashion Optical Reviews (%countItem)

Wish to cancel a same day order. Left telephone and e mail messages with the business on the evening of May , 2018, stating my desire to cancel an order that was made hours earlier: at about six o'clock in the evening of Thursday, May , 2018. No return call as of yet. I noticed that the sales ticket declares "No Refunds Store credit only within 30 days. " Since this is the company policy, I will instruct my bank to reverse credit charges of $432.20. In fairness to Cohen's Fashion Optical, I will pay for the services rendered by their optometrist: which I was told would be a $25.00 copay. Since I do not wish to purchase any other products from Cohen's Fashion Optical; a store credit is not acceptable.

came into our store and received and eye exam from our doctor of Optometry. His prescription changed so he proceeded to choose frames and lenses. He found something he liked and his order was placed with the online lab. All orders get processed immediately. The following day *** called to say he would like to cancel, I told him the store policy is no refunds/cancellations and we would be more than happy to give him a store credit. *** returned to our store on 5//2018 and picked up the store credit. I believe *** in now satisfied with the outcome. His store credit does no have an expiration date on it and he told us we will be seeing him again in the upcoming year.

I came to the Cohen's Fashion Optical in Bayside, New York on Thursday, May , 2018 in order to take an eye exam. The Optometrist told me that there is a very slight change in my vision, but not significant enough to warrant new glasses. I proceeded to the sales lady (Sharon) in order to make my co pay for the optometrist's services. I told Sharon that my vision change is minimal and I do not need new glasses. Truly, I was surprised when the sales lady began talking me into buying eyeglasses -- progressive lenses with transition shading. I repeatedly told Sharon that I do not like progressive lenses, and do not need transition lenses. I made it clear that I was satisfied with my current sets of glasses. Truth be told, the ordeal was a loud hard sell. Many times, I stated my objections to buying progressive lenses -- but was fast talked into trying the glasses she was forcefully selling to me. Honestly, I stated that I was not satisfied and not at all happy with the progressive glasses that Sharon was pushing -- but the response from Cohen's Optical Sales people is always: "try it for two weeks and get used to it." I agreed to try the glasses that the sales lady was aggressively pushing. Cohen's Fashion Optical does not post their "no refunds" policy; the sales people do not advise the customers of the "no refunds policy"; the customer receipt which states "no refunds" is lying concealed underneath a store sales slip -- so that the customer does not see the words "no refunds" until after signing the store copy and after the sales person removes the top sales slip. This is why I was surprised when I could not cancel the order that same night. I picked up the eye glasses on Sunday, May , 2018. I told the sales lady (Shelli) that I was having trouble seeing distances and could not read the material presented to me in the store. I told the sales lady that I am not happy with the eyeglasses. Again, the same response, "wear it for two weeks and get used to it." At home, I had tremendous difficulty seeing through the glasses. I called up the store three more times and told Keli, Michelle, and Shelli the same thing I told Sharon from the beginning of the sale --- I never wanted these glasses, and still do not want these eyeglasses. I never picked out the eyeglasses in the first place, but rather these glasses were pushed on me in a very aggressive hard sell manner. Finally, I spoke to the store manager (Carmen) on the phone; and even she was trying to sell me eyeglasses on the phone, while I repeatedly told her I don't want and don't need new eyeglasses. At long last, I went to the Cohen's Fashion Optical store on Wednesday, May , 2018 to return the glasses that I never wanted. I received a store receipt with a balance -- evidently, the best I can do in a very bad situation. In retrospect: a loud, over aggressive sales lady mistakenly believed that I was looking to buy eyeglasses, and fast talking me into buying something which I clearly stated I don't like, and don't want. I listened to the sales personnel's strong words, and tried the glasses out, but was never happy. The store's "no refunds" policy is never made clear to the customer, and is not even visible on the customer receipt until after the signing and removal of a top sales slip. I accepted the store credit, but I'd prefer to get my money back and go to another place the next time I need to see an optometrist, or possibly buy glasses. I now have a nearly $400 balance, which I may or may not ever use. For me, dealing with the sales people at Cohen's Fashion Optical in Bayside, NY was an unpleasant hard selling ordeal. I've reported the ordeal to The State Attorney General of The State of New York Consumer Protection Office.

We wold like to further assist *** with his glasses and also show him that he does have eye coverage thru EyeMed. I have pulled up his benefits and he does receive benefits for eyeglasses. The sales person pulled them up the day he was here. Also I do not like being called a "liar"; for *** to say that there are no signs in the store stating the no refund policy is just ludicrous!!! There are multiple signs, they have been here for years. Cohen's Fashion Optical has been in business for over 90 years. We are not a pop up store and we certainly know that signs have to be posted with the store policy. Also we did not choose the frames, he did. We can not choose them for him, he tried them on then told the sales person which one he wanted. When *** saw the doctor he was made aware that there was a small change to his prescription so if wanted too he can change his glasses. There is no " shady or tricky sales practices" going on. I am sorry *** possibly may have had buyers remorse but we did nothing wrong. *** can use his store credit in the over 100 locations.Sent on: 6//2018 12:29:07 PMSent by:

I have insurance through Emblem Health; and they are certain that I do not have eyeglass nor vision benefits. Never heard of EyeMed; and this coverage is certainly not listed anywhere in my insurance policy. The store has colorful postings and placards advertising appealing sales deals; but I've truly never noticed a posting concerning store policies and conditions. The New York State Consumer Protection Agency states that the store, and particularly its sales representative, is responsible that each customer clearly understands the store's terms and policies -- before signing. And I had a sales representative who did not greet me, never smiled, did not thank me, rebuffed my concerns about the eyeglasses, and sent me off with the words "you'll be alright." I recall that the sales lady pointed me in the direction of a case full of frames, and I froze while looking at the fancy display. She pulled out four pairs of frames; twisted and bent them; picked out a blue and a grey pair, and told me that they look good on my face. She had another sales lady tell me that the frames are just right for me. I constantly complained that the eyeglasses will not work for me and that I was not interested, but she quickly and loudly responded, "put them on the end of your nose," "get used to them," "these glasses do everything." There is no buyer's remorse on my part, rather a regret that I trusted a sales lady who turned out not to be trustworthy. And I was correct: the eyeglasses were not right for me; and I that I am one of many who cannot see well through progressive lenses -- which are oftentimes pushed on consumers by sales people who will not respect their customers' honest concerns. I've spoken with people who own expensive pairs of eyeglasses, and never wear them -- now I can understand why.
