In search of a rental, I responded to a rental ad online. I had interest in a particular rental and was contacted by the real estate agent Darcie H of Coldwell Banker in Ringwood, NJ via phone. We spoke about my interest in a particular rental at the end of the phone call she concluded that it was necessary to do a credit and personal screening online at National Tenant Network which would cost 25.00. Also, that Darcie would speak to the potential landlord about the rental and about the possibilities of renting it and when I ***/ *** Team
uld view it. Under the impression, that it was a requirement I completed the NTN screening with the 25.00 payment. I later that day received a call back from Darcie *** that the landlord has no interest in renting to me due to my NTN screening results. I did speak to Darcie about my concerns because I have bad credit. I asked for a refund on the charge since I was unable to view the rental. Darcie was deceiving. She said I would have to contact NTN about it and probably will not get one. There was an extra charge on the credit of 22.00 totaling 47 for the screening that was supposed to be one charge of 25.00. Darcie took all my personal information and ran. She is a fraud. Is this an allowed company practice of Coldwell banker? Can a real estate agent require a client to a background/ credit screening through NTN before a viewing of the rental. Also later that day making a second charge to the credit card? I was able to get the charges off my card thankfully. I can't get my private and personal information back. There should be no agent requiring any potential client for a screening until that client is set on the property they want to rent. I felt embarrassed by Darcie *** and disgusted by her practices as an agent.

As a standard procedure, Coldwell Banker uses third party service, National Tenant Network (NTN) to screen rental applicants. There is a $25 fee to applicants in order for NTN to provide the service. -As part of this arrangement, Ms. provided her credit card number and personal information to NTN. At no time did I (Darcie ***, Coldwell Banker agent) have access to any of this information. -Based upon the applicant score report provided by NTN for Ms., the owner of the property that she was interested in viewing declined the showing. -Any dispute regarding credit card charges should be directed to NTN.

I am rejecting this response because:
There were two charges from NTN. You looked at all the information on my credit and background screening. How do I know you didn't share that info with anyone else? I already told you I had a bad credit score and needed something quickly because I was given a section 8 voucher. You told me you would help me improve my credit score quick. Are you a magician? Who can do that? Lies lies lies!!!!! You took full advantage of that fact and made a mockery of my personal information. You gave to the landlord all my personal information, who you knew would deny me anyway. I have a recording of our conversation over the phone, if you need to go to that length. Also, It stated in the ntn agreement that you (coldwell banker) will receive a percentage. Thus it's not only to NTN's benefit. This is obviously very unethical business practices. You also were upset that I spoke to your colleague at coldwell banker the one who was assigned to that listing. You were concerned I was going to choose her as my agent instead of you. Why was that? Please explain how this is good business? Explain how you didn't try to fool me?
