Review: My wife and I recently got married and selected the College Bakery to provide our wedding cake for our reception and failed to deliver a quality cake.

My wife and I had our reception for our wedding on June 22nd 2013 and purchased our wedding cake from the College Bakery on March 21st 2013 well in advance. The day of our reception, my wife and I were too busy to take care of certain tasks so we assigned family members to assist us with the cake. My cousin [redacted] was in charge of a large number of responsibilities that very day and noticed the wedding cake had seemed as though something was wrong. She asked my brother [redacted] to take photos of the cake after it had been cut because she felt the cake wasn't like other cakes she had seen in the past. [redacted] is a photographer and event organizer and is an experienced person when it comes to weddings. [redacted] noticed the bread portion of the cake was too small and had excessive frosting surrounding the bread. Renee did ask before cutting the cake why it was leaning to one side and no one had an answer. My brother's photos which shows the diameter of the cake shows the bread portion of the cake being too small way too much frosting. The top wedding figure we had place on top of the cake was not able to be positioned or placed on top of the cake because it began to lean to one side so we went without it.

[redacted] waited until after the reception was over before she shared with me the problems with the cake because she didn't want to ruin my moment with my wife and family. I contacted the College Bakery once I received the photos from my brother and the College Bakery failed to uphold their promise to me regarding their being able to refund and or replace the cake if a problem or lack of quality occurred. The employee I spoke with during my first visit was rude and attempted to brush me off as did the owner. I left very upset and decided to find out what my rights were so I can return and ask / demand a refund. I complained to the owner during my second visit to the College Bakery and the owner denied the cake dimensions even with the photos I provided. The owner had made excuse after excuse and said it was my fault for not coming in before cutting the cake. We didn't know there was a problem with the cake until after it was cut and I didn't know of the problem until after the reception was over. The cake was a disappointment and my wife and I felt cheated and taken advantage of by the College Bakery. My wife and I would like to have a full refund of the entire cost of the cake. We can never refer or recommend this business to anyone because we do not want anyone we know to have the same frustration we have gone through during what should be the most precious moment of their life.

We paid for the cake and for the delivery. We trusted the College Bakery to perform at a professional level and provide us with a quality cake which we selected prior to our wedding reception. The cake had too much frosting and was poorly put together. The bread portion of the cake was basically too small and was not the size we ordered. The bread portion of the cake seemed as though pieces were missing so they 'College Bakery' substituted with more frosting to fill in the spaces. The cake was very weak and could not support our marriage figure of a man and wife which we attempted to post at the top of the cake. We have photos of everything and have proof of our claim. The cake cost us $215.00 and the delivery cost us $45.00 and we do not want a credit. We want a complete refund.

The owner of the College Bakery insisted we leave her place of business and even had the security get involved with our being at their place of business. There was no need for security. The owner made a poor and wrong decision to ignore and dismiss our complaint / grievance with her business product and failed to handle the situation in a professional manner. Please help with this matter and please be aware this is not the first time a customer of the College Bakery has complained. There are many complaints online with the College Bakery.Desired Settlement: We are seeking a complete and total refund for price and delivery of the cake we purchased from the College Bakery.

Cake cost $215.00

delivery cost $45.00
