Dear Revdex.com, First, I want to say how unfortunate this complaint is Anytime you put yourself above helping students for a financial gain, you are not in-line with the CollegeChoiceToday (CCT) vision and missionCCT was created for one reason, to help students make an informed decision in career and education Our business idea comes from our own experience in helping our kids determine their correct path We have taken that same personal desire, passion, and lessons learned from our experiences and have offered this to others There are many parents and students experiencing the same anxieties and frustrations in finding that best fit school and career for their child as we didOur current schools are not equipped with the necessary resources to counsel EVERY student Today, the national ratio of student to counselor is to 1, and getting worse The US Department of Education recommends to 1.[i] CCT believes that every student should have a to relationship with no exception So, with this being a primary driver for existence, we have brought together organizations, and people to create the technology, and science to provide in one place most of the information needed so parents and students can make an informed decision on best fit careers and educationI would like to address a couple of her points that have been brought up about what she considers as her right to a territory and supportIn addition to this response, I have submitted to her a detail explanation of each of her complaints and unfortunately this was not included in her complaint to youAs it pertains to her losing the opportunity within the state of Colorado because more parents want to help kids, I would ask that she review the definition of an “independent” I want to be clear on this, we clearly state and she has agreed in writing that she is independent The agreement states – “Strategic Partner has been informed and understands that CCT does not grant, recognize, or authorize any form of exclusivity, whether territorial, geographic, or by customer or client type, classification or designation, to Strategic Partner.” As an independent distributor, you are not guaranteed any territory or exclusivity You have the freedom and flexibility to offer your services in any location in or outside of ColoradoSo one of her complaints was that others wanted to help students and offer services within the state of Colorado Even though we do not grant exclusivity, there is more than enough opportunity for many new independent counselors So here are the facts as stated by the Department of Education and the state of Colorado clearly showing that there is a lot of opportunity and one should not be so greedy: · Ratio of counselor to student is to Ranks 40th in ratio· 887, students in the state growing at 1.2% yearly · Over cities · Over 1,schools (647+ high schools)Ranks 21st in nation for number of schools· million businesses and 2,added each weekThey buy our services and dedicate to students· million individuals in the state · Within a 10-mile radius of where she lives, there are over 60,studentsI am not sure what she charges on a per student bases, but I can only imagine the number of students in her area represent an incredible opportunity for growing her counseling practice, not including the businessesAccording to “Fox Business”, the average counselor will charge $3,and in a large city $6,for their servicesSince this is a paid service, you cannot expect to have 100% participationBut if we used a much smaller number like 2% (1,students) of the students, this still represents incredible opportunityWith this large opportunity of students needing help, there seems to be enough for others to assist in helping as wellUnited States government says the ratio should be to 1, this would require an additional 1,independent counselors just for Colorado Just because you are in the area first, does not give you the right to be the only one – and the agreement clearly states this But, there is an advantage of being the first, but you must take advantage of the opportunityGreed will not produce sales or solve the problem for our kids and families Starting a business is hardYou must get out within the community and work day after day and let people know that you are there to help, no other way to do it It takes hard work, dedication, lots of sacrificing, and the willingness to work in the field It is not fair to others working with the CCT product to blame the lack of success because the complainer fails to put the time in on her businessThis independent distributor that is complaining was on board for months before another independent joined During those months, she brought on one student After months with little to no activity, another distributor joined This new distributor within weeks had students she was counselingToday, there are independent distributors in the state of Colorado covering 800,000+ students So, it would seem to me that there is plenty of opportunity for not only our complainer but others as wellOne of the other complaints was the lack of supportThe CCT team worked with the distributor many hours to trying to help her with marketing, creating personal materials, and her desire to use social media Unfortunately, there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of her time and activitiy from the distributor on the phone and concern about her website than getting into the field and building her business Even though she is an independent distributor we wanted to help here as much as we couldHer being successful helps u allWe had a disproportionate amount of time allocated by marketing, training, our head coach and myself to help her succeedAccording to the agreement, “The responsibility for generating leads, obtaining clients and producing revenue rests solely with strategic partnerStrategic partner agrees that the initial training provided by CCT, which includes, in part, general guidance and instruction on lead generation and marketing strategies, does not constitute and shall not include direct or indirect assistance in procuring accounts on the Strategic Partners behalfThe purchase by strategic partner of its initial opening package as well as any other CCT products/services, marketing material or supplies purchased from CCT during the term of this agreement are made on a final sale basisCCT shall be under no obligation to refund any part of the price for the initial opening package or any ongoing supplies, marketing materials or inventory, not shall it be under any obligation to repurchase these items When asked what her daily activity looks like, and her planning sessions, we were told that it was none of our business It is hard to help someone that does not want to be helped and feels they know bestTo build a business, you have to put in the time, effort and be open to coaching and learning As anyone knows, it is not easy What CCT provides is an assessment tool, not a businessShe has to provide the business and desire to make it happenThe CCT tool can certainly compliment and does make it easier, since the CCT product automates a lot of what a counselor needs to do It is also important to note that the two other distributors have asked the complainer to join them in their quest to help students in Colorado – but their offer was refusedAt the end of 2016, CCT hosted a three-day training session in Texas This was a time for all of us to get together to visit, know one another, learn and shareCCT paid for the food for over people, the locations, entertainment and the individual training sessions, even discounts for hotel accommodations Barbara elected to not participate in the event The new independent distributor did, and she brought her husband, and she has had success and she is building her business, working hard at making it happenThe agreement provides for either party a day out, no refunds on either sideIt clearly states that she take full responsibility for building her business It also states that what they are buying is the right to use the system and they represent CCT as an independent distributor What is so hurtful and frustrating, is that she just did not give it her all, and because she did not see an immediate return in her new start up, she is blaming CCT for her failureWe would set up time to visit individually and as a team call for learning, and she was busy with other personal events that just seems to get in the way I know that live happens and our family comes first, no doubt But if you are not able to make the necessary time to have an independent counseling business you have to understand that your return on investment in time and money will be elongatedHer comments are hurtful to the other distributors that are working hard to bridge the gap in the lopsided ratio of to Each independent distributor that comes on board is working hard to build their own business and understands that it takes time, a lot of effort, perseverance, and determination And for a person to put discouraging, damaging remarks and call others to complain, and not take the responsibility, is upsetting to others that are working so hard to help our students We have schools, students, parents, individuals, and businesses around the country that are using the CCT, and they are very pleasedEven after her discouraging remarks, I have offered to help her build her business, and work with her, but unfortunately she is not interested What CCT and the many other independent distributors are doing is changing the lives of kids and families It is true, I will defend what we are doing, we do not need more of what this complainer represents We need more individuals that truly have the desire to help our students, patience to build their practice and take the time to learn and listen, and less driven by greed and immediate need for payback and resultsWe are working decision in career and education.  Our business idea comes from our own experience in helping our 5 kids determine their correct path.  We have taken that same personal desire, passion, and lessons learned from our experiences and have offered this to others.  There are many parents and students experiencing the same anxieties and frustrations in finding that best fit school and career for their child as we did. Our current schools are not equipped with the necessary resources to counsel EVERY student.  Today, the national ratio of student to counselor is 500 to 1, and getting worse.  The US Department of Education recommends 250 to 1.[i] CCT believes that every student should have a 1 to 1 relationship with no exception.  So, with this being a primary driver for existence, we have brought together organizations, and people to create the technology, and science to provide in one place most of the information needed so parents and students can make an informed decision on best fit careers and education. I would like to address a couple of her points that have been brought up about what she considers as her right to a territory and support. In addition to this response, I have submitted to her a detail explanation of each of her complaints and unfortunately this was not included in her complaint to you. As it pertains to her losing the opportunity within the state of Colorado because more parents want to help kids, I would ask that she review the definition of an “independent”.  I want to be clear on this, we clearly state and she has agreed in writing that she is independent.  The agreement states – “Strategic Partner has been informed and understands that CCT does not grant, recognize, or authorize any form of exclusivity, whether territorial, geographic, or by customer or client type, classification or designation, to Strategic Partner.”  As an independent distributor, you are not guaranteed any territory or exclusivity.  You have the freedom and flexibility to offer your services in any location in or outside of Colorado. They buy our services and dedicate to students. ·         5.4 million individuals in the state ·         Within a 10-mile radius of where she lives, there are over 60,000 students. This independent distributor that is complaining was on board for 6 months before another independent joined.  During those 6 months, she brought on one student.  After 6 months with little to no activity, another distributor joined.  This new distributor within 2 weeks had students she was counseling. Today, there are 3 independent distributors in the state of Colorado covering 800,000+ students.  So, it would seem to me that there is plenty of opportunity for not only our complainer but others as well. One of the other complaints was the lack of support. The CCT team worked with the distributor many hours to trying to help her with marketing, creating personal materials, and her desire to use social media.  Unfortunately, there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of her time and activitiy from the distributor on the phone and concern about her website than getting into the field and building her business.  Even though she is an independent distributor we wanted to help here as much as we could.
