hired this company to stabilize our house and remove our contents after a house fire. Two days after the fire we met at the house and *** told us that if we left our belongings in the house they (his company) would do their best to clean them. He said this would be the best chance we had to save them. He assured us that nothing would be disposed of without our permission. Our adjuster who was there, confirmed that nothing is to be disposed of without our permission. We trusted College Clean to take care of our items and soon came to find out that College Clean had destroyed and disposed of many items that could have been saved. They provided a list of "lost" items which was illegible in some parts and the descriptions were inaccurate. We were having a hard time identifying some items so we asked *** to provide photos of the items which he did. There were several photos of items that were NOT destroyed by the fire but were disposed of anyways. When reviewing the photos you can see the item in one piece and in the next picture the same item is in the background smashed. There is even a photo of cigarette butt that was put out in one of my candles. All of our wedding mementos were destroyed, my children's baby books, childhood toys, keepsakes and heirlooms and to see pictures of them and knowing that they could have been saved is devastating. They basically backed a trailer up to our house and just threw everything in. They disposed of items that were absolutely irreplaceable. When we discovered what had happened we contacted *** immediately, our adjuster contacted *** to let him know that there was an issue. *** then sent an email stating that it was up to us to deal with College Clean. We were also advised that College Clean would store our electronics so that we could recover the hard drives, sim cards etc and have since found out that College Clean not only doesn't have them, they don't know where they are. There were two laptops, one of which had confidential information on it and they do not know where they are. To date College Clean has not offered an explanation as to how this happened. When confronted about the electronics *** became dismissive and told us that we had been compensated by *** and that unfortunately there is no compensation for pain and suffering. A company that has been in business for 22 years (according to their website) should not have made such a grievous error. This company specializes in restoration and should know better than to dispose of peoples personal belongings. Not only have we lost a significant amount of our belongings but now we have lost all the photos on our devices and the confidential information on the laptops puts us at risk for identity theft. *** told us this was a learning experience for them and then proceeded to dispose of the electronics that they were supposed to store for us.
We would like an explanation of how this happened.

We recognize that you endured a major fire that not only compromised the structural integrity of parts of your home but also destroyed many of your personal belongings. College Clean Restoration acknowledges that the contractors that were hired to remove the contents from your home did not perform their duties in accordance with our operating practices and procedures as instructed. As a result of this we have not nor will we use their services again. As you stated, we have been in business for 22 years and have had very few complaints. That being said, one is too many! We are sincerely sorry for your loss and wish you all the best into the future.

Fires are very traumatic but having a company come into your house and destroy, disrespect and dispose of the items that they were hired to salvage has made the experience much worst than it should have been. My family and I lost items that are absolutely irreplaceable and there was no need or justification for our loss. College Clean did not have the right to decide which items were thrown out. Many items could have been and would have been saved if we would have had the chance to do so.
Just to clarify, College Clean was hired by *** who in turned contracted the other company that they are referring to. We have a lost list from each company and photos from each company. The College Clean list was not detailed and illegible and the photos show how College Clean treated and destroyed our belongings. The other company provided a clear, concise, detailed lost list. They also provided photos in which it is evident that our belongings were treated with the upmost respect.

A flood occurred in the basement on January 29, 2018.
College Clean Restorations coordinated with the insurance company and managed the project in a professional manner. They were great!
Initially they removed the wet and damaged items including wallboard, carpet, flooring, bathroom vanity, tub and tub surround, furniture, baseboards, doors and door frames.
They provided a storage unit for furniture and various items. They packed items in boxes and stored for their return when the project was completed.
I appreciate the staff who work with College Clean. They are trained professionals in every sense of the word. They are respectful and pleasant.
I was consulted on a regular basis and updated by email, text and telephone calls.
I know that they deal with issues like a basement flood but I had not. I really thank them for their patience and understanding.
