Total Scam AND they stole my credit card info
I initially fell for this on the phone - but then immediately realized what a mistake I had made. I worked with Capital One and we got them to not put the charge through. Thought I was good. Fast forward mroe than a month later - they had held on to my credit card info and just put a charge through today! Thank goodness for Capital One - they've taken care of the charge and will be investigating. Hope law enforcement finally gets involved.

Identical story to the ones posted above. I do not know how they got my name and home number and how they knew my daughter was prepping for the SAT. I fell for this scam and after numerous attempts to recover my money I am writing it off as a lesson learned. I cancelled my credit card to prevent future charges from being applied (twice they slipped in the $69 charge). I do encourage everyone to call them periodically just to remind them of what a big piece of %#$ they are.

This company is a total scam. Like everyone else they called and stated that my daughter signed up for their service. Once they refunded my money minus shipping my bank changed my credit card number and somehow they managed to still charged me $69.95 a month. I disputed the charges and my bank can't get them to respond to their requests.

The scammer's name Richard T Schwartz out of Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I have been fighting with this for several months now. They have been charging my credit card for 9 months. Shame on me for not catching it quicker. What makes my situation worse is that MasterCard with all their money from interest I have been paying for 15+ years will not credit these charges. I was able to send my material back prior to the 30 day period. I was told that everything was taken care of by them. Now MasterCard is telling me that I waited to long to pursue a claim and according to their policy would not pursue a refund on my behalf. Customer service at it worst. Not sure who is worst the College Prep crooks or MasterCard.

This business calls unsolicited and "sells" educational testing materials for SAT and ACT exams stating that you can return within 30 days and get your money back. However there are no return mail instructions and when you try to return the materials they either a) don't answer the phone or it has been disconnected, b)give you a fictitious PO Box or c) claim they've never received the materials back and ask for tracking information/proof and also then start adding a recurring fee of 69.95 per month on the credit card used for the initial purchase. There are at least 5 different PO boxes associated and multiple web sites and telephone numbers. There are reports of multiple people trying to return their materials within 30 days but the package is refused or the customer is intentionally told an incorrect mail address to purposefully have the goods not returned with the 30 day period. Business names that i've discovered that all are linked in this scam: University Preparation (this is business name used to charge my credit card), SAT/ACT Scholastic Achievements, College Level Exams, SAT/ACT Scholastic Achievement, Websites that i've found that all share the same 888 or 877 numbers and have the exact same website, product, price etc - (obviously a front to be able to route to different business, website addresses to avoid prosecution, lawsuits, etc.): https://www.satacttesting.org/ https://universitycollegetesting.org/ http://www.satacttesting.org/ http://www.collegelevelexams.org/ http://staging.techwave.com/satact/ (address listed on this website is 1919 Austin Ct. Claremont, CA. 91711) 888-667-8431 888-611-8941 888-819-5105 (877) 365-7592 - number that is associated with 7 other reported scams on BBB just as i've described here There is also an article from San Diego Consumer Action Network where multiple other people have reported the exact same situation as i've described: https://www.sandiegocan.org/2016/05/04/scam-alert-satact-scholastic-flunks-the-s...

All info above is right on. Thanks wj_carpenter. These people called me saying our daughter singed up for this at school. Like a dope, I believed them. After calling them repeatedly I finally got a refund minus shipping. That was more than a year ago and now I'm getting the $69.95 recurring charge. They probably kept my cc #. jltsport - I would love to support your class action.
'

I had the same exact thing happen! I just saw the charge for $69.95 today. I told them this was unauthorized. They told me "it was part of the package." What package?! I returned the materials and they actually issued me a check, but they took out $16 for shipping! I gave the guy an earful this morning and am having my credit card company issue me a new card with a new number, as I most certainly did not EVER authorize this payment. They told me the initial charge was a hold and I would not be charged unless the materials were not returned in 30 days. Ha! I called them every day until I received my refund. They told me the $69.96 is for the "website access" to a website they never even mentioned. Yes, they do need to be shut down. I don't think the BBB will get involved, but something needs to be done. Maybe the CA attorney general's office needs to be contacted? That is fraud. I reported it as fraud to my credit card company, but they told me since I know who made the charge, I would need to file a dispute. They told me this morning that I will see a $69.95 credit by the end of the day tomorrow. I'm wondering if I'll get my refund. If not, he will hear from me several times a day until it appears.

OMG! I wish I had known about this company. On May 7, 2018, I received a call from a young lady stating she was in college. Stated my daughter was interested in this program. My daughter wasn't home. When she came home that next day, I asked her. My daughter stated this was not true. Unfortunately, I gave up my credit card information and was charged an initial 216.32. I received the package around May 10, 2018. I sent the package back return to sender on May 14, 2018. I NEVER opened the package. I called on this date or around May 16, 2018 to let the company know it was being sent back. I thought all was taken care of. On July 5, 2018, I noticed a new charge of 69.95. I called my bank and then obtained the number to College Prep. I called and spoke to James. I was told that I would be credited back the 69.95. I expressed again that I did a return to sender on the package and NEVER opened it up. On Saturday, July 7, 2018, I looked at my account for the credit of 69.95 and it was there. I further checked for the first charge of 216.32 and noticed to my surprise that I was NEVER credited back the package. I called this morning, July 9, 2018 and spoke with James. I talked about the 69.95 credit, then I further inquired why I hadn't been credited the 216.32 when I had returned the package unopened. James claimed they never received it. I stated how could that be when it was taken to the post office and written return to sender on the package. James stated again...it was never received nor logged in as received. I asked James for his last name. He stated...I cannot give you that. I've given you all the information I can. I told James that they were a FRAUD and FULL of !%#@. I was very upset, because I am being charged for a package that I never even opened and returned in good faith. I contacted my bank to dispute and am hoping I can get my money back. I never noticed that I did receive the credit, because I had some money in my account at the time. My bank filed a dispute. They asked me if I had a tracking slip or any emails from the company. I told the bank that the company never emailed me; only called on the phone. I don't have any tracking, because I didn't think I would have an issue. This has certainly taught me a big lesson. Track any packages you send in the mail. Can't trust anyone! If James never received the initial package back, then why go ahead and give me a credit for the 69.95 and tell me that I won't receive any further charges. That's because I returned the package in tact to them, NEVER opened. That lets you know it's a FRAUD! I am really upset, but it won't happen to me again. I am on alert now.

You should sue the business owner in small claim court if you live in the state of California. If you're in another state contact your state's attorney general and let them get damages for you under telemarketing fraud

Hello, I am game. How much is it going to cost?

https://universitycollegetesting.org/ - phone 888-611-8941 - Billing name "University Preparation 888-611-8941 CA"
Similar experience as previously mentioned. They called me telling me that my daughter had requested the system but being she is a minor they needed my approval and to pay for the system. They did tell me up front that it is $216.35 and that it is completely refundable if returned with in 30 days, and they will e-mail me all of the details (never received). Well I was at work when they called and thus could not verify with my daughter if she had requested it or not so I agreed to the one time charge and to receive the system. That evening I talked to my daughter and she had never heard of it or requested anything. Well being it is "completely refundable" and they had all ready billed my credit card I figured might as well at least take a look at the system.
Well once received it I have seen the two disk that came with the system available at my local library and a few other locations, for free. So now the fun part, trying to return it. No return address on the package, no instructions in the package or other information. Due to there phone number is part of there billing name is the only way I was able to contact them to return the system. They gave me a RMA number and told me not to send it back in a box and not to reuse the box it came in, but I must return it in a padded envelop. Well I had my wife take care of that it it was sent back to them. A couple of week latter I was checking for a refund on my card and it never showed up. I called them again and they said they had received the system, but "due to how fast I returned it they though I had not had enough time to try it out so they were going to send it back out" and only charge me some where around $100 if I liked it instead of the $216.32. I told them no and I want my refund. They told me that they can not credit my credit card but had a check already filled out but wanted to talk to me before they sent it out to try to get me to buy into the system at the lower price. They then only refunded most of it (can not remember the exact amount) due to shipping and handling was not covered. I pointed out that I was never told this and have nothing in writing say that, but, due to there hours suck thus calling from work, I just gave in and let them keep the $13 if I remember correctly.
Well now two months latter and I have the $69.95 charge and am waiting till 10am pacific time to call them and issue another complaint to them, this time about a charge I never knew about or authorized.
Today searching online using there phone number I was able to locate there web site (linked above) and it is a joke. A "company" name so general that you can never actually find it and know for sure you are talking to the correct company, and no address anywhere. Company name on top of the pages "Collage Testing", on the about page "SAT ACT educationaltesting" then the billing name "university Preparation 888-611-8941 CA"
The web site also says "Simply return the materials within 30 days, and you will receive a refund!*" and the only * I can find on the site says "*No personal information will be sold to a third party. All products are shipped within three business days via U.S. postal mail" nothing about shipping and handling charges not being refunded.
After I get the $69.95 charge taken care of my next call is to the Revdex.com as this company appears to be shim-sham artiest, reselling some one else software with a great mark up, lying to people about request for the software, having to hound them to get refunds then they hit you with a monthly charge that they never told people about.
give credit, there web site is a little more clear then there sales pitch on the phone, but I looks like most of us received a phone call from them.

the net is getting wider! it looks like Mail and wire fraud for the people involved. steer clear of these scammers selling useless disks and charging services that do not exist.

DItto , Ditto on the above review.I received a disk from University Prepartation # 1-888-66-8941 was not interested and returned disk certified. I looked at my credit card statement to confirm I would not be charged. Out of the blue last summer ( I just realized) I was being charged for 69.95 a month, I contacted the company and inquired and advised this was for a separate study guide for my daughter. This is inaccurate as she does not use this service and is in college. The company representative assured me I would be refunded for all the charges and to date I have received not credit. A dispute is in the process. Such I am resorting to contacting my credit card to proceed and dispute. DO NOT accept or sign up for any of this so fraudulent.

I received a call from this organization back on May 25, 2017. They said they were calling because my son had expressed interest in their CD at his high school. He explained that he had CDs to help with prep for the ACT and that they were free. At the end of the conversation he said he would need my credit card in order to send them. I said I though they were free. He said yes, they were but if I didn't send them back after 60 days then I would be charged. I hung up the phone and was surprised to immediately get an email from my credit card stating the charge of 216.32 had already happened. Right away I called the learning specialist at my sons school and asked her if she was familiar with the CDs. She said no she had no idea what I was referencing. She said my son would not need those CDs. I immediately called back College prep and told the guy that I did not want the CDs and to credit my account. Two days later the mailman was trying to deliver the CDs to me. I was shocked! I told him I do not want them and he said OK I will mark return to sender. I rarely use my credit card. I was shocked to log online in Sept and see that the CDs had not been credited to my account and that they had also charged me $69.95 on both July 24,n 2017 and Aug 23, 2017. I called 1-888-611-9109 and 1-888-611-8941. Someone finally called me back. He said he didn't have record of receiving the CDs back. He said he would credit me for the $69.95. He said he would have to look further into where the CDs where at and then call me back. A few days later I received a credit on my credit card for $69.95 and about a week later was mailed a check for $69.95. I have called the above phone numbers multiple times (like 4 times a week) for the past month. No one will return my phone calls. They must have caller id as they never answer my calls as well. This is so unfair! I do not have the CDs and they are charging me $216.32 for something I told them I do not want. Any help I can get in getting my money back would be creating appreciated.
