Review: Collin's paving was to update my very old cracked asphalt driveway with a new driveway and also add a turn-around addition to make it safer to pull out of my driveway since I live on a busy main road. The driveway looks great, but the turn-around is of absolutely no use. It cannot be used as a turn-around, it will not even fit a parked car. I paid for a functional turn-around addition but did not receive one, just extra asphalt. As professionals, with experience in doing driveways and such turn-arounds, they neglected to give me what I wanted and paid for. I had contacted Collin's paving several times about fixing this, and making it a larger space so that it could be used for its intended purpose. I did not get any response. I believe this should be fixed or the money that I paid needs to be refunded for the turn-around.Desired Settlement: I believe this should be fixed or the money that I paid needs to be refunded for the turn-around.

Response:
I am in receipt of your letter from Ms. [redacted] regarding the paving of her driveway. I have
attached a letter of reply from myself to Mr. [redacted], Ms. [redacted]’s father, who
figures prominently in the complaint. I believe that this letter, which I sent to both [redacted] and
her father in December of 2011, outlines my version of the events surrounding the scene.
I have included a copy of our contract, showing the proposed turn area of 15 X 12.
It bears mentioning that Mr. [redacted] had requested the quote for his daughter’s property, was
at the site during the construction, and was almost entirely my contact during the process. On
the day of the paving in fall 2010, we had the stakes in the ground where the paving was to be
located for the “turn around area” in question. (turn-around is actually a misnomer, it is just a
back-up area, not a true turnaround-see attached drawing) Mr. [redacted] directed my foreman
to move it forward, closer to the garage, resulting in the space being made tighter and smaller.
Both my foreman and I tried to dissuade him, concerned with what the results could be.
However, Mr. [redacted] was firm in his insistence that the area be moved, creating his own
specifications for the project. [redacted] understood the circumstances, as I spoke to her by phone
as well.
When contacted later by Mr. [redacted] that they were unhappy with the driveway turnaround,
it was the end of the paving season. We agreed to revisit the issue in the spring of 2012. I
became aware then, as time went on, that I was expected to move the back-up area at my cost.
I felt strongly that this was unfair. The driveway was done properly, is in good condition, and in
all ways Sound. The fact is that the only problem the client has with the driveway is the back-up
area that we were given specifications for by the client.
I have tried to consider what could be done to ultimately satisfy the [redacted]s. At this point, I
am frankly surprised that this has continued to this level. The complaint suggests that Ms.
[redacted] has had no response from us. That is simply not true. I believe that they just don’t like
the response.
My first reaction in matters of customer service is to do what the client wants. However, in this
case, that is what got me into trouble in the first place.
