I brought my car in to finish some body work at the Collision Works of Norman from a previous insurance claim The vehicle was operating just fine when I dropped it off, it is a manual six-speed transmission When I picked the car up later in the week, I could not get the car into gear when the car was turned on When I brought the issue up to the employees, one of them mentioned that whomever transported the vehicle back from where it was being finished had trouble shifting the car on the return trip He said at times, whomever drove it back had to put the car in third gear to even get it rolling They also did not seem the least bit concerned that a car that was dropped off to them in good working order was now inoperable They towed the car to the dealership that I always use for my car maintenance After troubleshooting the issue, the dealership service department reported to me that the gearbox and clutch were completely destroyed I had them fax over the report to the Collision Works location and proceeded back there to see what could be done to resolve the issue The implied consensus was they were not at fault and could not do anything about it

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2014/10/07) */
Our original repair to this vehicle was compromised due to the fact that the customer had installed over sized aftermarket wheelsThese wheels required him to cut out structural components back so that the wheel would clearWhen the
customer brought the vehicle back it was obvious that the reason for the damage was the modifications they had made, we also had the insurance inspect it and they agreed it was not an issue with our repairsThe customer continued to call in to the insurance and threatened to call the insurance commissionerAfter this the insurance asked us if we would go ahead and repair the vehicle, they even told us they would pay the cost just for customer satisfactionOnce we got the car back to the shop for repairs it did take about a month, however the reason was due to extensive wait time on some aftermarket moldings the customer had installed on his carThese moldings were not from the manufacturer of the vehicle and therefore required ordering from a company we had never used beforeUpon completion of the repair the customer requested to pick up the vehicle after hours, which we agreed would be fineThe customer called the next day claiming that the battery had been switched out of their vehicle and replaced with a bad oneThe customer then claimed that they had recently replaced the battery and that the one that was in it when the picked it up looked differentAt this point I simply asked the customer if they could provide documentation showing that they had recently replaced the battery, because we had never encountered this before at our shopI told him that if we could verify this we would be happy to take care of his batteryThe customer said he did not have any documentationDue to the fact that he did not have any documentation, and that we never had a chance to see the bad battery, I told the customer I could not justify the expense of a brand new battery, but would be happy to cover half of the cost to help him outThe customer then replied that he needed to make a call and he would call me backThat was the last time that I heard from this customer
