As soon as I received this I immediately called the family and left a voice mail for them to call me so we can resolve this matter. We pride ourselves with our reputation and take this very seriously. We are so sorry for any confusion and have
disciplined the employee involved. In all our years in business and a member of the Revdex.com I don't think we have every had a complaint. We apologize for any undue stress that was caused to the family and wish management had known the day they came in to receive our services so this may have been avoided all together. We are happy to give them a full refund of the money that they paid to us

Review: Upon a family member's passing, we called the Colonical Funeral Home of Leesburg and inquired about a Jewish preparation and burial.

The director of the funeral home told us they had done many Jewish preparations and burials, followed all the rituals, and knew what to do.

At that time, we asked them to come and take the body.

When we met with the funeral home the next day, it became very clear that they had no idea what a Jewish burial meant.

We asked what cemetery they use and had no idea if there was even a Jewish cemetery in the area, mentioning we can bury the body in a Catholic cemetery nearby!

We had a rabbi talk to them on the phone to find out if they comply and the funeral home staff said they follow the procedure and do the standard Jewish washing of the body.

When we asked them for more information about that, such as how that is done and who does it, they had no idea and backtracked to say they do not and have never done it before.

At the same time, they kept lying to us, saying they have done many Jewish burials in the Jewish preparations, but they kept mixing up Synagogue and Church.

They wasted hours of our time and never even acknowledged, much less apologized, for their misleading of us.

The hours wasted were significant since Jewish burials must be done within 24 hours of death.

Furthermore, when we found a different funeral home, Colonial Funeral Home released the body without consent of the family!

The law states that they must call family before the body is released. We had not called yet and then found out the released the body anyway.

That is 100% illegal and needs to be investigated further.Desired Settlement: Refund for the amount we paid for transporting the body.

They wasted hours of our time, lied to us, and caused undue stress and emotional turmoil with scrambling to find a new funeral home.

Furthermore, they illegally released the body, which is completely unacceptable and for that, they should lose their license to practice.
