Review: April 6, 2013 I ordered a sofa from Colonial Modern Furniture with an anticipated delivery of 10-12 weeks. August 7, 2013 sofa still has not arrivedLate June, 2013 spoke with the manager asking when we might expect it to arrive. We were told the manufacturer had a plant vacation until July 8th and our sofa did not make it to production prior to that time. The week of July 15th we called many times speaking to the salesperson who had no answers and who passed our call onto the manager who would not return our calls. Finally on July 23, 2013, we called ourselves and spoke with Craftmaster the manufacturer. We were told our sofa was not made and was not in production although they had the frame and material. The confidentiality policy would not allow them to give us anymore information. We can read between the lines. Colonial Modern took a down payment of half of the sofa cost and has covered up over and over about the true facts. It is unfortunate that a company takes money from customers to keep their business operational and treating them so inconsiderately.Desired Settlement: We want a written cancellation from Colonial Modern Furniture of this sales order. We have already spoke with our credit card company.

Review: We placed an order for two sofas and a chair on 4/29/2013 and put a deposit in for the order. We were informed it would take about 8 weeks to receive our order . We went back to the store to return samples about 6 weeks after the deposit . The sales person when asked told us it could be up to 12 weeks and that she would check on the status of our order. After repeated phone calls and messages with no return calls from sales person. We contacted the manager and were told that due to computer crashes and flooding she could not tell us anything but that they would get back to us. We were contacted by someone around 7/29 with excuses that the factory closed for vacation delayed the order and they would get us more information. I called 8/10 left a message ,I called again on 8/12 and was told that the tentative ship date was in three weeks .I was told the order was delayed due layoffs and cutbacks at the factory. I have contacted other retail outlets and was told they receive their orders in 5 or 6 weeks. I also contacted Temple furniture and was told that orders do not take this long . They told us they cannot tell us anything we have to contact modern . We sold the old furniture to make room for the new stuff, we had to borrow furniture for our grandsons birthday party . This is the worst customer service that we have ever experienced from both Temple and Modern. We don"t know for sure if the order has even been placedDesired Settlement: I not sure if anything will ever be a satisfactory settlement.

Review: Visited store on March 9, 2013. Knew what item I wanted to purchase. Sales rep spent 15 minutes writing up my order. I did not ask for design advice nor did I take up sales rep time other than for her to write up order. At time of order I asked sales rep why the estimated delivery time was 8 - 12 weeks for a console table. Meaning it did not involve custom fabric or stain. Was told that the 8 -12 week delivery timeframe was standard, but they (Colonial Furniture) had an excellent relationship with the manufacturer and turnaround time was often less than the 8 -12 weeks stated on invoice. On April 26, 2013, I spoke with original sales rep and asked about status given that it had now been 8 weeks since I placed my order and gave them a deposit of $755. Was told that the item I had ordered was "imported" and delivery would be in May 2013. Interesting given that when you visit the manufacturer's website, all items are described as produced by craftsmen in [redacted], North Carolina.Called Colonial Furniture on May 22, 2013 and spoke with manager. Explained my concern about the delay and asked if there was any chance item could be delivered on a scheduled vacation day when I knew I would already be home (and not have to take an additional vacation day to accept delivery). Did not receive a response from manager and had to proactively call her again on May 24, 2013 asking if there was any resolution to my question. I was then told that certain shipping regulations with the freight carrier were holding up the shipment of my item and that she could not give me a ship date.I submitting this complaint on June 13, 2013. I have had no communication from Colonial Modern Furniture on a delivery date. And I don't have the console table I ordered almost 14 weeks ago and deposited $755 for.Desired Settlement: I want the table I ordered and paid a deposit on.

Review: Ordered a dining table and four chairs on May 24, 2013, and put $1400 down. I was told delivery would take 8-12 weeks. I called after 14 weeks to find out about the status of the order, and was told they would have to call the vendors to find out, and they would call back. They did not call back. Over the next several weeks, I called numerous times, even talked to the president of Colonial, [redacted], always getting the same answer, and no one ever called back. Finally, on 9-23-13, after about 18 weeks, I demanded a firm date for a delivery. [redacted] said that the table (from the Amish vendor) was finished, but the chairs (from a different vendor, [redacted]) would not be ready for another 2-3 weeks. After about four weeks without any news from Colonial, I called the vendor, [redacted], on 10-22-13, and talked to [redacted]. She told me that [redacted] had not even started production of the chairs, even though they had all materials ready, but they had some issues with Colonial Furniture that she could not discuss for legal reasons. I told [redacted] that I talked to [redacted] and what I found out. [redacted] acted surprised and promised she would call [redacted] and find out what was going on. The next day, I called [redacted] at [redacted] again, to find out if [redacted] from Colonial had contacted them, which she had not. [redacted] advised me to get my money back and order though a different company, and assured me that [redacted], as the president of the company, knows the reason why they have not started working on the order. I called Colonial again, but [redacted] was not available. I told the receptionist that I wanted my money back. That evening, [redacted] called and assured me that the table would be ready to be delivered in 2-3 days, but she had trouble reaching [redacted] about the chairs. She assured me she would call me back in one or two days. On 10-29 I still did not hear back from [redacted].I called, but she was not available. My wife called and asked for the number of the Amish vendor, but was refused. At this time, [redacted] does not take our calls anymore.Desired Settlement: Delivery of furniture or full refund.

Response:

I received your letter on November 22, 2013 regarding Mr. [redacted]’s claim. We have delivered the Dining Table on November 12, 2013. The customer has been contacted on November 27 by our Customer Service, [redacted], with the update that the four Dining Chairs are in transit and due here the week of December 9th. [redacted] informed Mr. [redacted] that as soon as they arrive, she will contact him immediately to set up the delivery. He seemed pleased with the communication. The four Dining Side Chairs arrived today and the delivery has been set up for December 10, 2013.

Sincerely yours,

President

Review: I ordered an upholstered couch and chair on March 13, 2013 with the understanding that it could take 8 weeks for it to be delivered from the manufacturer, Temple Furniture in North Carolina. It has now been over 5 months. I have had no communication from the store. I wrote a letter to the manager and have had no response. I want a definite delivery date or a refund of $2,816 which I paid in March.Desired Settlement: I want a definite delivery date with evidence that the money I have paid is being held in escrow for the manufacture or a refund of the amount I have paid.

Review: I contracted to purchase 2 items of furniture (sofa and chair) from Colonial Modern at [redacted] on April 11, 2013 and paid a deposit of $1447.96 (which was 50% of the total cost) with the estimated ship date to be 10-12 weeks which would have been in July, 2013. To this date I have not received my furniture.I called Colonial Modern in July for an update and was told that due to factory backlog that my furniture was delayed until August. On August 20, I again inquired as to the status of my order and was told that someone would contact [redacted] again but I did not receive a call back that day so I called again on August 21 and was informed that due to the still backlog at Temple my furniture would now not be delivered until September. I then decided to contact Temple Furniture personally and was told that Temple is shipping orders in 3-5 weeks and that they have received other phone calls from customers of Colonial Modern with similar issues. They could not indicate that I would receive said furniture by September and were unable to go into details as they are not supposed to talk directly to me as a client. My contract is with the store and not them. The Temple customer service representative was very professional and most helpful. My concern at this point is the fact that I have waited 16 weeks with an additional 3 to go and am concerned that my order will not be filled and that Colonial Modern is still in possession of almost $1500 of my money. I am concerned that I have not received the correct information regarding my order from Colonial Modern.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of my deposit. I am quite concerned that the information that I have received from Colonial Modern is untruthful.
