Colonial Garage Reviews (1)

Review: There are two issues that I want to address, one, being the inappropriate behavior of the customer, two, the customer's unwillingness to provide an invoice of a written estimate for service upon request. My vehicle broke down on the highway, while in operation, due to this event a police officer arrived on the scene where my vehicle stopped working. He asked me, "If I knew of anybody who could come tow me since I was blocking one side of the highway." I responded, "No." He, replied that he would contact the nearest towing service provider. I let the officer know that I had no cash on me and that I had called my wife in order for her to bring me some money. The officer said, I could just use a card if I had one on me. A Colonial tow truck arrives and tows me almost a mile to my work place, upon my request. I ask him how much do I owe him. He responds,"$150." Me, thinking that this is an unreasonable price for the service provided, I respond,"$150!" He says "Yep, 1-5-0." I told him I felt that I was being taken advantage of and I asked him why I was being charged so much. He leans towards me and smacks me on the left shoulder and responds, "Do you want to pay my fking insurance bill and other fees involved in me towing you?" He continued ranting on and using foul, vulgar, offensive, and unprofessional language as he sought to justify his service charges. Although I thought the price was unreasonable, I verbally agreed to pay him the $150 within 5-10 minutes upon my wife's arrival. The tow truck driver then responds,"I'm not fking waiting that long and if I do wait that long there will be an additional $100 fee because I'm on overtime and that his boss wouldn't allow him to wait that long. Since, we were at my workplace, I called two of my coworkers to see if they had the money on their credit or debit cards. The tow truck driver responds, I do not accept cards,I only accept cash. One of my coworkers comes outside to explain to the tow truck driver that our company's policy prohibits us from carrying large amounts of cash on us. My coworker then offered to run to an ATM,literally 4 minutes away round-trip,to get the cash. The tow truck driver refused to wait and told me to get out of his truck. I asked," where do I pick up my truck and is there and extra fee for keeping it overnight." He said there would be a $50 storage fee and then handed me his business card. As I proceeded to exit the tow truck I asked if I could get some personal belongings out of my vehicle before he towed it away. He told me to hurry up and get what I needed. The following afternoon, I go to pick up my truck at Colonial Garage, before paying,I ask if I could have an invoice stating the estimated charges,so that I could see exactly what I was paying for. He responds, No and tells me I'll get a receipt after I pay. I tell him that the way he treated me yesterday and today is not fair and that he'll be under investigation. He responds, "I don't give a [redacted] what you have to say." I also told him that he should have never touched me and that he would get in trouble for that also. He replied, you cant do [redacted] to me, get the [redacted] off my property. I said my vehicle is on your property. He replied get the fk off my property. I walked away from the property and I called the police in order to get their assistance in getting my vehicle back. They told me not to pay him until the person coming to tow my vehicle was close, which I did. After receiving the receipt, I recognized that I was charged $105 for being towed after 5pm and for fuel. From Colonial Garage to were I was picked up to be towed was a mile a way at the most. Then I was towed from the location I was broke down at to my workplace, which was another mile at the most. So for 2 miles of fuel and 1 mile of towing, I was charged $105. Then I was charged $45 for loading and towing fees. Even though I was being charged for after hours service the tow truck driver refuses to wait even 4 minutes for me to get the money to pay him, which I don't understand, since I'm paying him for after hours service. He had only given me 10 minutes of service, yet he wanted $150 for 10 minutes and an additional $100 if he waited 5 more minutes. Then he even charges me $50 more dollars for storage fees, due to the fact he did not want to wait for 4minutes for my coworker to get the money. The tow truck driver also lied to me, the customer, by saying he couldn't wait because his boss wouldn't allow it and that he could loose his job if he waited 5minutes for me to get the cash to him. I found out later on that he's the owner of the business because he told me to get off of his property, meaning he owned Colonial Garage, which means he lied.Desired Settlement: Apology from business for inappropriate behavior, a thorough written estimate and explanation of all charges, partial reimbursement for unreasonable or made up charges not found in their service charges document.
