June 10, 2014Dear *** ***:I have been in business for over yearsI have never in all that time had an issue like thisI would never curse or never have sworn at a customer. On June 6, 2014, when *** called the office with her complaint, there was already a problem
with her attitude and the way she spoke with our office personThe last sentence she used included the word "freaken" which very much upset our office person who answered her call. She said in her initial complaint that three yards, or half the soil, was stoneWhen I arranged to me her, I expected to see a large pile, which would be heaping in a full sized pickup truckWhat I did see was a pile (which I took a picture of) about the size of 1/a wheelbarrowThe soil is screened to 3/4" and I saw nothing over thatI do not know why if she had an issue she would spread it all over her yard before she complained.Since she used all of the product delivered, (except for 1/a wheelbarrow which was her choice) no refund or special conditions are warranted.I was the one cursed at, on my cell phone, by some man claiming to be her husbandI told him I would be handling this matter through the Revdex.com, as this was her way of doing itHe continued cursing and I told him not to call again.I am sorry, but here is no dealing with this woman as she has twisted everything around

Jun 16, I would like to withdraw my complaint against Colonial LandscapingI do not feel that I am in the wrong by complaining, but have realized upon dealing with the owner that no resolution will be madeIt is not worth me trying to be reasonable with someone that has a negative disposition with females.I would like to add:Again I do apologize for having to get the Revdex.com involved. All we were looking for was the owner to call us back and acknowledge the issueOur desire was for him to offer one of his workers to come out and help us get the stone out and haul it awayI had the expectation that he would replace what his worker pulled as substandardOr even offer us maybe a 10% discount for the aggravation or excess work that resulted in the productI was open to his Company determining the quality issues and measuring the substandard product to be replaced.Unfortunately what could have been resolved quite simply has now become a complaint to the Revdex.com because the owner failed to even acknowledge or respond to a customer’s quality issue. If he would have responded sincerely even after I knew you contacted him, I would have worked with him to resolve the issueBut when he called and immediately was dishonest I realized that he was not there to solve my issue but was trying to discredit my account by stating he has previously called and left a message.Due to my career, I review all aspects of the issue prior to action to ensure I can give proper informationAgain when he arrived, he was not there to resolve the issue but to be combative and try to intimidate me to drop the issue.Unfortunately, he is right, he has never came across someone like meAt least not someone that is femaleI cannot be deceived or intimidated to back down.My job is investigations and interviewingMy specialty is telephone interviewing and identifying dishonesty by vocal changes and behavioral norm.If the owner would have been honest with me, even saying he forgot to call or was busy, that would have been sufficientBut to lie about responding was not acceptable.I realize from his response letter that he will not take responsibility for his Company’s substandard product and will instead blame his customer for being irrational, (which although infuriated me, I will take emotions out of it and let go).Again, I do not see any resolution with this business owner and the low quality product he sells, so I will chalk this up to a bad purchasing experience

Review: On 5/31/14 I ordered via telephone 6 yards of Screened Top soil. The rep stated I should order screened topsoil for my yard because un screened would be full of rocks and twigs. Screened was quoted as $37 per yard as un screened was much less.

I agreed with the rep and ordered 6 yards of Screened top soil for $222.00 plus tax and delivery. Total amount of purchase was $265.32.

Delivery was made that day.

When my husband started spreading the top soil he realized it was almost all stones and very little top soil. It looks like they pulled dirt off a mountain side. So far we have recovered 3 yards of stone in the 6 yds of Screened top soil we purchased. We are currently still raking the stone out.

I placed a call to Colonial on 6/3/14 to complain about the product. The service rep stated they normally screen their own top soil but this time of year they purchase it from an outside vendor and that is the best they can get. I explained I was extremely dissatisfied with the product and the rep stated she could have the owner [redacted] call me which I replied yes, I would like him to call me. I did not receive a call back on 6/3/14.

I again called on 6/4 and asked for [redacted] who they said was not available. I again left my # and asked for a return call which again I did not receive.

I am very dissatisfied with this product because I was directed to pay for a higher quality and did not receive it. They also did not inform me prior to purchase that they could not produce the product but instead ordered it and they were unable to receive a satisfactory quality product. They did not disclose that what they would give me was full of rocks and was the best they could get.

On 6/2 I ordered additional screened top soil from A different vendor ([redacted] in [redacted] Pa) and the quality was exceptional compared to what Colonial gave me. The product was also $9 cheaper a yd than Colonial and very few rocks.

Colonial promised me a quality product which when delivered was below standard and the owner would not respond to correct the issue or address the problem.Desired Settlement: I would like Colonial to either refund my money or replace the top soil with an acceptable quality product. I cannot return the topsoil as it is all over my yard but I would also like the owner to inspect the product that was delivered and realize the substandard quality product that we received when promised a better product.
