From: *** *** Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 4:PMTo: [email protected]: complaint ***To whom it concerns,This is to let you know that I am considering this complaint now closedAs it turns out none of the claims that the dealermade regarding the cause of my airbag fault code were in fact correctThrough research on-line I was able to diagnose and fix theproblem myselfI still maintain that the problem was caused by the dealer's recall work on 12/22/since that is when theairbag fault code first startedIt's sad that I had to diagnose and fix the problem myself. It's sad that folks on-line know more about what causes these problems than the so-called "factory-trained" technicians at the dealership.Very truly yours,*** ***

Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:
Again..............the response which Mazda of North America gave has no bearing on the fact that my car's airbag system is now not functioning properlyIt was basically just an example of "passing the buck"They simply called the dealership and then simply repeated what the dealer told themBottom-line...........I brought my
car in on 12/21/and had a working airbag system with no error codes (or lights) and got the car back on 12/22/15, after the recall repair, with an airbag warning light and a
system which now may not function properly in the event of a crashI will not pay to repair damages to my car which were caused by the recall work
Sincerely,

Complaint Information: Hello ***, I have presented to you in my previous response the facts as I know themOur position has not changed, I am not going discount *** ***'s feelings "the dealer can claim whatever they want regarding the code and that it is somehow unrelated to the recall work but it's too much of a coincidence"*** *** can have his air bag system diagnosed at another Certified Mazda dealer if he doubts our diagnosis*** *** also states that he "spoke to a technician in the parking lot who convinced us to drive it for a while to see if the light would go away"I am not saying a conversation never happened and his theory of coincidence is falseThe fact remains I have no knowledge of this conversation taking place, nor do I have any documentation to support thisAs far as the coincidence of the air bag light, electrical components can fail at any timeAs I have stated we have performed many of these recalls successfully, and have had no other issues reportedWe take these repairs very serious as our customer’s safety is our top priorityWe are in no way responsible for his current air bag lightColonial Mazda performed his recall as per the manufacturer guidelines with a Certified Mazda TechnicianColonial Mazda cannot repair his vehicle for free as he is seekingWe would be happy to offer him a discount to complete the necessary repairs, if he so choosesRegards, Joe L*** Service and Parts DirectorSent on: 5/23/12:05:PM

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:As I explained in my complaint, the airbag came on when I picked the car up the day of the recall work 12/22/My son is my witnessIn fact we turned around less than a mile away from the dealership and spoke to a technician in the parking lot who convinced us to drive it for a while to see if the light would go awayThe dealer can claim whatever they want regarding the code and that it is somehow unrelated to the recall work but it's too much of a coincidenceI have also reported this problem to the NHTSA since I feel it's important for them to know how their national airbag recall campaign is going and how dealers are treating their customers.
Sincerely,

[redacted]Revdex.com Staff Member (if you know):    [redacted]Complaint Information:    Hello [redacted] The customer was in for the [redacted] air bag recall on 12/21/2015 . we replaced the Drivers side steering wheel air bag inflator located in the steering wheel as per recall 8215F. This recall was performed by a factory certified Mazda technician , and it was performed correctly per the recalls instructions. The customer returned to us on 4/4/2016 , 106 days later with a complaint that the air bag light was on since the recall was performed. We were very confident that the recall was performed correctly, as we have performed well over 100 of them. In the interest of the customers satisfaction and more importantly safety, being this was an air bag light we decided to look into the matter immediately for [redacted] Colonial Mazda decided to diagnose the air bag system at no charge for the customer, this is a normal fee of $110.00 plus tax. After a thorough and complete air bag system diagnostic was performed it was determined that the vehicle has a faulty drivers side / side impact air bag module. The system fault code was B1994 , drivers side side air bag module system resistance high. This air bag module is a separate part and is totally unrelated to the drivers side steering wheel air bag inflator that was installed back on 12/21/2015. To be very clear the recall part that was replaced is located in the steering wheel. The current faulty air bag module that needs replacement is located inside the left front drivers seat. At this point Colonial Mazda is in no way responsible for the current air bag malfunction in [redacted]'s 2007 [redacted]. This was confirmed to [redacted] by Mazda Of America North East Operations via phone when he called them on 4/9/2016. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact me as needed.
