Review: I parked my car @[redacted] in NE on Sat., 6/14/14, for about 2 hours. Colonial Parking issued a Citation; however, such Notice of Infraction should have been issued by either the DC Metropolitan Police Department or an Officer from the DC Department of Public Works.Desired Settlement: I'm requesting that Colonial Parking rescind said Citation. Thank you!

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

We are in receipt of Revdex.com Complaint #[redacted] and have looked

into the complaint. The results of our investigation are below.

1.

[redacted] at [redacted] is a street

that is privately owned. The property owner has jurisdiction over creating and

enforcing the parking rules on [redacted]—not the Metropolitan Police

Department or the DC Department of Public Works. The MPD is contacted only for

repeat offenders and the need for towing a vehicle, at which point, additional

fines due to the city government for parking on private property are added to

the parking violation, plus towing charges.

2.

Multiple signs are posted along the curb indicating

that street parking on [redacted] is on private property and violators of

the parking limit of the metered two hours may subject the vehicle’s owner to

fines, booting or towing at owner’s expense.

3.

The property owner contracts with Colonial

Parking, Inc., to manage its parking garage and to enforce the parking rules on

its privately owned street, [redacted].

4.

The parking meters along [redacted] are “pay

and display.” You pay for parking by coins, credit cards or pay-by-phone, print

your ticket which is good for up to two hours and display it on your dashboard.

You have the option to return to the meter before the two hours are up

and “refresh” your ticket for another two hours, print the new ticket and

display it on your dashboard.

5.

When [redacted] parked her car on Washington

Place and exceeded the two-hour parking limit, Colonial Parking was within its

rights to issue a parking violation ticket.

Colonial Parking is therefore declining to refund the

lawfully issued parking ticket. There is

ample parking in the [redacted] garages at the rate of $1.25 per hour. We

understand [redacted] is upset over the ticket and value her as a parking

customer. We sincerely hope she will take advantage of the cheaper and longer

term parking available in the [redacted] garages in the future.

Sincerely,

Margaret E[redacted]

Response:

Good Evening, while I'm thankful for the response, I'm rejecting it because 1) the MPD informed me that although the area is private, they don't have jurisdiction to issue Citations & 2) the disability placard was clearly displayed in my window which allows me to park for 2 hrs free. Thank you so much!

Review: Dear Revdex.com,I am outraged over the extremely poor handling of the soccer game that played at RFK Stadium last evening (Saturday Aug 10) between Chelsea FC and AS Roma. Most particularly the poorly managed and inadequate parking facility around the stadium.I had an 11 mile journey from my home to the stadium and it took over 2 hours to park due to being stuck on the perimeter road of the stadium in solid traffic attempting to get into the car parks for 90 minutes alone. This resulted in my son and I missing all but 5 minutes of the first half of the match. And we were more fortunate than many as we managed to peel off and make it to a parking lot rather than sit in traffic for even longer. We noticed huge parking lots empty and inaccessible but for the life of me I don't understand why. The inadequate parking areas that were accessible and the fact that even half way through the game Colonial Parking were still charging $25.00 cash per vehicle to enter is quite frankly appalling behavior. I paid $300 for two tickets and due to poorly managed directing of traffic and gauging on parking fees, my son and I, and I imagine thousands of others missed half the game.By the way, the stadium reported an attendance figure of 25,000 and so the stadium was not even nearly filled to capacity and so they should have been able to handle this all so much better.I feel I am well within my right to at the very least get my parking money of $25.00 back and I think Colonial Parking should reimburse me for half of my $300 tickets purchase. By the way, for DC United games parking is $15 per vehicle, according to the DC United site and so to charge $10 more is greedy and unnecessary even if Colonial Parking handled their customers efficiently. I look forward to receiving a response to my justified complaint.Regards, [redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund of $25 parking fee and $150 of the $300 ticket charges, and so $175 total.

Dear **. [redacted]:

We are in receipt of the Revdex.com Complaint #[redacted] from [redacted]. We have looked into the issue and these are our findings.

1. "[redacted]" scheduled the "Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge 5K" (ROC 5K) on Saturday, August 10, 2013. To accommodate the participants in this obstacle race, [redacted] arranged for the closure of several parking lots and Metropolitan Police Department assistance in re-routing traffic on that date. Colonial Parking, Inc. does not schedule sporting events, close parking lots, or request the MPD to re-route traffic.

2. The parking for DC United soccer games is $15 per vehicle; however, for international soccer games, the parking price per vehicle is $25. **. [redacted] was charged appropriately for his parking at the Roma-Chelsea game.

3. Colonial Parking, Inc. managed the parking lot for the international soccer game appropriately.

We sympathize with **. [redacted]'s frustration due to the traffic congestion from two separate sporting events scheduled in the same vicinity on the same date. However, Colonial Parking, Inc. does not arrange for, or schedule, sporting events and is not responsible or liable for road or parking lot closures that may result in a patron of such events missing their enjoyment of the event.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I have reviewed carefully the response made by Colonial Parking in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and I find it quite extraordinary that they are deflecting all responsibility in this matter.

Review: I parked my car at the [redacted] location on January 25, 2013. The parking attendants at this facility require that vehicle owners leave their keys behind so that the attendants can move cars as needed throughout the day. One of the Colonial Parking Inc. employees damaged my car on the day in question, with an estimate for repair at $641.78. I filed a claim with the company's claims department, and produced the vehicle for inspection on the next business day, and I was later informed in a letter that Colonial Parking Inc. is unwilling to accept any liability. I have requsted copies of the video footage from the CCTV security camera at the entrances/exits to this garage to disprove their claim that the car was not damaged while in their care, and they have ignored my requests. I am close to filing a lawsuit against Colonial Parking Inc.Desired Settlement: I would like Colonial Parking Inc. to review the video footage I have requested to see that my car was not damaged when I gave it to them, and that it was damaged when they returned it to me, or produce the footage for me to review. If my claim is substantiated, I would like Colonial parking inc. to pay to have my vehicle repaired at their expense.

Dear

[redacted]:

Review: I entered the parking garage which is next to the [redacted]'s theater on yesterday, 11/20/2013 at 4:50 PM. The movie theater validates parking for this garage for four hours at $8. I was attending a private screening of the [redacted] movie set to start at 5:30 and end at 8:30 at the theater. The movie did not start on time and therefore ended late. I returned to the garage at 9:05 PM. I went to pay and the machine indicated that I owed $30 instead of a reduced rate $8 plus the additional time over that four hours (15 minutes in this case). I took the ticket back and drove up to the parking office where I met [redacted], the attendant. [redacted] informed me that the validation is good for four hours and that since I was there for a longer time, I owed the regular amount to exit. I explained to him that 1) the event did not start on time, that 2) the policy about going above 4 hours voiding the validation was not made clear anywhere, and 3) that I did not have $30 to pay for parking. The attendant told me there was nothing he could do and too bad. I asked him what I should do with my car, he said you can't take it with you unless you pay. I asked him to call his manager, he told me that I could but that he would not because his manager would yell at him. I showed him my phone and explained to him that I had no service in the garage, that it was late and that it was unsafe for a female to wonder around a garage or surface street alone looking for a phone signal, when he had a phone in his office that could be used. He refused to call his manager, gave me his manager's name and number and ended our conversation. At that point I had no choice but to incur the $30 charge to remove my car (and any overdraft fees) so that I would not incur additional charges for remaining in the lot. I made calls to the manager who did not answer and has not returned my message to resolve this matter.Desired Settlement: The policy was unclear. I am requesting a refund (if not full due to the poor customer service displayed by [redacted]) of part of the amount that I paid. The validation was for four hours at $8. I am responsible for the additional 15 minutes that I was late due to the event running past time. But to be charged $30 and treated with little respect as a customer was quite disappointing.

Review: I paid the last bill for parking and have a receipt dated 3-29-2013. I received a bill for next month that has an invoice processing date of 4-5-2013. The new bill does not acknowledge the payment of 90 and is trying to bill me for two months plus a late fee. The invoice number is [redacted] and the account number is [redacted].Desired Settlement: Correct the bill. Mail out bills and process payments in a more timely manner in the future.
