I requested by phone in advance that the technician treat the upstairs deck. They did not. On April 14, 2014 I phoned Colonial Pest to remind them that any scheduled insect treatment needed to include the upstairs deck, where we have had insect problems in the past. I was told that my request would be noted.Today, April 21, a technician came and left without treating the upstairs deck, and left a bill for the service. The bill included a notation that the deck was unsafe to walk on. I then immediately called XXX-XXX-XXXX to report the lack of deck coverage. I was told that the technician was afraid to walk on the deck. While it could use a new coat of paint, I myself use that deck every day, and there has never been any problem walking around on it.Since Colonial Pest does not want my business (after 15+ years) we are parting ways. But I am not paying for a partial and ineffective treatment. If Colonial Pest escalates this problem by messing with my credit rating, I will take further legal action. Desired SettlementCessation of all services from Colonial Pest with no further payment. Business Response We always go the extra mile to get services done completely and effectively. This is a case where to do so a technicians safety would be compromised. We had 2 complaints of the deck being unsafe to walk on. The customer was told of this note before the final visit. The last technician was met with some frustrations explaining he would not be able to walk on the deck to treat it due to unsafe conditions. We have not and will not charge the customer for the service day of 4-21-2014.

They did bat exclusion service;caulking used ran down side of house. Their repeated attempts to remove resulted in stains. They now say it's my fault. In July 2012, Colonial Pest contracted to provide bat exclusion service to both ends of my house. Before he started applying the material to my rake trim, the technician, [redacted], used a garden hose to wash bat droppings off the side of the house he was working on so the success of the bat proofing could be monitored. It had started raining while he was applying the caulked material used to seal the gaps under my rake trim, then rained so hard he stopped work, leaving the first side of the house only half finished. He said he would return as soon as he could to finish both sides of the house. That same week I noticed dried caulking running down the section of house he had worked on, and called Colonial Pest to tell them. I spoke to the person that answers the phone, [redacted], told him about the caulking, and also told him I thought the bats had moved, and were now roosting on the other side of my house (the untreated side), as there were fresh droppings I had previously hosed off.[redacted] returned to complete the job and I have a note [redacted] left in my door stating, "The stains are caulking that got too wet and dripped; we can clean it off at the end of Sept. when we come back to remove the bat tube." Although I had to call to remind them in the fall, [redacted] and the [redacted], did eventually come out to try to remove the caulking from the house, but the product they used stained the house. It was late fall, 2012 when this occurred, they indicated they would be back in the spring to try again. We were hopeful the stains would fade, but didn't, and I called to tell them. They tried to remove the stains a few more times, without success. [redacted] stated he was researching what product would remove the stains, and I was later told that they tried using a scouring pad. When I called [redacted] in late fall of 2013 to tell him the stains were still there, he said they might use soft scrub on their next attempt. I said I was concerned about the harshness of scouring pads on the vinyl siding, and he should make sure products he uses don't harm the siding. [redacted] then replied that I was responsible for the stains.. He claimed that [redacted] told him I had hosed down the house after the freshly caulked material had been applied, causing it to run down the house. I stated this was not true, and, told him I wanted to speak to [redacted] He said [redacted] would be making a written statement, and after waiting over a month, I contacted the owner of the Colonial Pest, [redacted]. My email to him was forwarded back to [redacted], who forwarded a statement from [redacted] claiming I had called the office and told[redacted], "I was cleaning the siding with a hose and that bat droppings were coming out behind the cobra vent." I hope this belated version of the facts is a misunderstanding of either what [redacted] heard me say or that [redacted] misunderstood [redacted], as it is not factual. I never sprayed any water, at any time on the side of the house[redacted] had worked on. I didn't need to, as [redacted] had effectively done so, and that section of the house remained clean of droppings.[redacted] now states that I am responsible for this situation, and they only tried to help me out of kindness. He never replied to my last email, so I can assume that I am left trying to remove the stains from my house.Desired SettlementI would like the house to look it did before they stained it trying to remove the caulking.Business Response [redacted]We performed a bat exclusion at [redacted] Fremont, NH in Aug of 2012.All products that Colonial Pest Control Used at Mrs. [redacted]'s home were used in accordance with the manufacturer's label. We suggested to Mrs. [redacted] that she contact the manufacturer of the products.Sincerely,[redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I sm very confused by Mr. [redacted]'s claim. Since Colonial Pest applied the caulking, not me, I hope he is not suggesting it was my responsibility to remedy the problem his company caused? His comment also conflicts with the fact that Colonial Pest, although unsuccessful, attempted to remove the caulking and resulting stains from my house, and the technican [redacted] written statement that the caulking got too when he applied it.[redacted]Final Business Response The work was stopped as it started to rain, yes. The caulking was applied under a rake board to help hold the cobra vent material in place. The rain would not be able to soak the caulking and cause it to run down the siding. The hosing of the siding to remove debris caused the caulking to be dislodged from behind the cobra vent material and run down the full height of the siding. Regardless we are committed to doing what we can to help remedy this by calling a siding cleaning company and having them assess and clean the stained area. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accept their response that I am responsible for the caulking dripping down the side of my house. Colonial Pest has misrepresented the facts, as I never sprayed a garden hose on the work they did to my house. It makes no sense that a homeowner would spend hundreds of dollars on a service then deliberately damage it. The employee that applied the caulked material was working in the rain while both preparing and installing the material, and in fact had to stop working at my house as the rain persisted. I do agree to having a cleaning company look at the area in question and give their professional opinion.
