Review: Colonial Recovery is a mom and pop car towing business. They are primarily contracted by apartment complexes to patrol lots and tow any vehicle without a pass. My did not have my pass visible this morning (May 16, 2016) and my car was towed. This was my experience:

I called them and verified that they had my vehicle. There location listed online is the wrong location by about 5 miles. They are a cash only business, but they ONLY accept exact change, which in my case was $150. Most ATMs only give out $20 bills, so I had $160 and they told me to drive down the road to a mini mart and get change from them. At this point I am already two hours late for work so I gave up and gave them the extra $10.

One other thing worth mentioning is that they offered to fabricate the form to say I had a flat tire so my insurance would cover it. I politely declined and after I left reported that to my insurance company so they could be on the lookout for future frauds.

Finally, they use a very old hook and chain type tow truck which caused damage to my rear axle. This is the second time they have towed me and after the first time I spent over $1000 dollars reparing my rear axle. As soon as I pulled out of the lot today the vibration/noise is back.

Somebody do something. Thank you for your time. For more complaints see their reveiws on [redacted]. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I am taking my vehicle to the nearby ford dealership this afternoon. If they verify that the damage to my car is consistent with a tow truck of similar model, I want them to pay for any damages. Not only is it not fair, but I honestly cannot afford another $1500 car repair.
