Colonial Shell Reviews (3)

We, at Colonial Shell do our best to take care of our customers and we do have a great track record of no complaints for the work that has been done in our station. The $that the customer was charged for state inspection is what everyone pays at any shop for that purpose (maybe a few dollars
up or down).Any customer has the right to do the work necessary at any mechanic shop of his or her choice in order to get their certificateThey just have to bring back the car for reinspection. The work that was done on this car was necessary in order to get the certificate. From the beginning the customer was asking if the work can be done for $which we were not able to comply. All the work that was promised was done on this car with the customer agreeing to the priceTherefore, we are notable to refund any money for the work that was done and agreed upon.If the customer feels that there was any kind of misconduct on our part, he can contact the State Police of Maryland which regulates the inspections and ask for a re-inspection of the car with an officer of the force to be present at the time of re-inspection to go over our work and any part that was replaced with the invoices of those parts. If the officer comes to the conclusion that we did not done the work properly or as we have promised, then at that time we will be more than happy to comply with decision of the officer.Sincerely,Colonial Shell

It is clear on the response that the company is used to exploiting customers under desperate circumstancesIn addtion, off course they will clam that they fixed everything that was agreed uponHowever, last I checked I'm the customer and here in America the burden is on the vendor to prove my clam documenting otherwiseI say this to make the point that I agreed to pay dollars for the mechanic to fix everything that was required for the car to pass the state inspectionAs I have expressed on my complaint, when I got back to pick up my car, only one item was worked on with poor craftsmanship (they have broke alarm indicator light panel) was the window, however, during my conversation with the mechanic, he told me and showed me several items that needed to be repaired replaced for the car to pass inspection- This inculded driver seat, shattered side view mirror, and other mechanical components that I don't recall(Currently my window does not even work on consistent basisJust yesterday as I was going out of a metro parking lot, the window wouldn't go downAs of then, I had actually stopped using the window because the last thing I want is for the driver side window to get stuck openAlso, associated with this repair, ever since I got the car back, my locks from the driver side unlock on their own- im assuming this is because the door panel was never put back properly) Having said that, even after I requested for the mechanic to provide me with the replaced parts, he refused which indicats that even the work conducted was not only inferior but also, with no integrity as no defective parts that caused the window from operatingPlease help me in putting a stop to such practices by businesses that use state mandates to defraud the publicThank you for all your efforts

Review: On 10/31/14 at about 9:30 am I arrived at Colonial Shell located on [redacted] Wheaton 20906 to have my [redacted] 3.0CL get the state required safety inspection. When I arrived I was refereed to the mechanic by the clerk to discus the state inspection. When I spoke to the mechanic AKA Sami, This conversation took place inside the mechanic shop where he was smoking. Even though I was hesitant to go inside the shop without my safety PPE I felt the need to go in because none of the staff where interested in coordinating the service I paid for. When I arrived after the 2 hrs he told me that the car had a lot of problem and that it was going to cost me $450. When I asked him what was wrong, at first he started talking about things that were completely irrelevant from the criteria of the state safety inspections. When I asked him to show me the itemized work quotation he did not provide. So instead he told me to pay or leave shop. Because he had wasted half of the day at this point I had no choice but to accept his ultimate. Because at this point he had already gotten the 75 dollars for the inspection. The inspection was a requirement to get my full registration/tag I had no choice but to pay the $450 to get the inspection certificate,After I paid I was told to come back at 5 pm. When I arrived at 3 He had already removed my car from the shop and when he saw me he went to my car and started removing the whipper blades. When I told him they were new, he took them off anyways and started damaging them in front of me while saying no they aren't. At this point I asked him to give me all the replaced parts, however, he told me that he will not. When I pushed to give me the whipper blades he hesitantly gave them to me. At this point when I got in the car I noticed that the driver side door panel was very noisy/broken remote entry light, The passenger side- broken side view mirror was not replaced, driver seat was still defective and when I pulled out the car this morning I noticed a transmission fluidDesired Settlement: I would like the management team to refund the $450 that the mechanic charged me because I am confident he did not fix/replace anything (except whippers). This experience made me feel like I was in a 3rd-world country where a governments mandate/requirement was being used to embezzle a particular targeted sector of society that was disliked by the government by business entities. Technically I paid 450 for the certification because nothing was done to fix the car's issue required by the state.

It is clear on the response that the company is used to exploiting customers under desperate circumstances. In addtion, off course they will clam that they fixed everything that was agreed upon. However, last I checked I'm the customer and here in America the burden is on the vendor to prove my clam documenting otherwise. I say this to make the point that I agreed to pay 450 dollars for the mechanic to fix everything that was required for the car to pass the state inspection. As I have expressed on my complaint, when I got back to pick up my car, only one item was worked on with poor craftsmanship (they have broke alarm indicator light panel) was the window, however, during my conversation with the mechanic, he told me and showed me several items that needed to be repaired replaced for the car to pass inspection- This inculded driver seat, shattered side view mirror, and other mechanical components that I don't recall. (Currently my window does not even work on consistent basis. Just yesterday as I was going out of a metro parking lot, the window wouldn't go down. As of then, I had actually stopped using the window because the last thing I want is for the driver side window to get stuck open. Also, associated with this repair, ever since I got the car back, my locks from the driver side unlock on their own- im assuming this is because the door panel was never put back properly) Having said that, even after I requested for the mechanic to provide me with the replaced parts, he refused which indicats that even the work conducted was not only inferior but also, with no integrity as no defective parts that caused the window from operating. Please help me in putting a stop to such practices by businesses that use state mandates to defraud the public. Thank you for all your efforts.
