In 2007 I purchased my [redacted] from Colonial Toyota for $33,000. I have used them for various tune up's and repairs since. Most recently in spring of 2015, I spent $2000 to get my vehicle serviced (New front Calipers, new Brakes, etc) thinking that my vehicle would be in good shape. It only has 85,000 miles and has never had any serious issues.
As soon as I left, I noticed there was a loud scraping noise coming from my vents when the blower was turned on. I immediately turned around and brought it back. They forgot to fully clean leaves around the new cabin filter they put in. Needless to say, this was only the start of my nightmare.
A few days later, I could smell a strong burning oil smell coming from my rear driver side tire. It would smell after each time I drove. I also started hearing a loud squealing sound when I would go in reverse. I also noticed that now my floor vents were making a scraping sound now.
I then brought in my [redacted] to [redacted] to investigate the burning smell as it is conveniently located to where I work. [redacted] told me that the burning smell is coming from the rear driver axel that is cracked and leaking. They advised me to take it to the dealership to get it fixed as they didn't have the necessary tools.
So now I am onto my 3rd time bringing it back to Colonial Toyota. I provided the documentation from [redacted] which indicated that the rear drive axel was leaking. After dropping my vehicle off, I was later told that [redacted] didn't know what they were talking about and the issue was actually a stuck caliper on the rear driver side. They replaced the caliper and fixed the floor blower vent. (more leaves they forgot to clean out) I then went home.
A few days later, I am still smelling that horrible burning smell and still hear that high pitched squealing noise when reversing. Time to go back to Colonial Toyota.
So now I am at the end of my rope, frustrated beyond belief and have already lost a lot of time and money from taking off work.
4th time now at Colonial Toyota. After dropping it off for a few days, I was later notified that the issue was actually the rear driver axel seal that was cracked and leaking. They covered the costs for the repair and I again returned home.
A few days later, I now notice an even stronger burning smell coming from the rear driver time and still hear that horrible squealing noise while reversing. At this point, I lost my faith and confidence that Colonial Toyota would ever fix my vehicle correctly. I never had any of these problems until after my vehicle was serviced there.
After complaining to the corporate office, Colonial Toyota refunded me $1315.00 for the work done to the rear of my vehicle and that the mechanic that was working on it was FIRED. The news of the mechanic being fired was troubling and made me wonder what other kind of negligence was done to my vehicle. I needed a second opinion.
I brought it in to my local mechanic and he fixed the leaking seal on the driver side axel. He also figured out that the squealing noise that I was experiencing was as a result of the front passenger caliper missing a second pin. The local mechanic was shocked that a dealership missed putting the second pin in and the safety implications were clearly implied. My vehicle was now fixed after my local mechanic looked at it and I now have no further squealing noises or any issues as far as I can tell.
Colonial Toyota refunded me again $49.98 for the cost to get the pin replaced. I am still not satisfied as I believe they should refund me for the labor and part cost for the passenger caliper, due to my loss of work and frustration due to their negligence! This should have been fixed on Day #1. No customer should have to go through the nightmare like I went through.
The only positive point about Colonial Toyota is Lenny. He is a Service Rep that did an outstanding job with helping me. He deserves a promotion and a raise.
If you care about your safety and well being, stay far away from Colonial Toyota and take it to your local mechanic. I for one will never due business there again.

I had visited this dealership several times, but my last visit was around 2013 when I had a very bad experience with one of the female service advisors there. She was very unprofessional and biased in her behavior and attitude towards me.
I was shocked to see why someone would behave like that with a customer for no reason. I never again went back to that dealership and also decided to never again purchase a [redacted]. My friends were glad that I shared this experience with them.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Sincerely,

Review: I brought my 2008 Toyota Prius to colonial Toyota for a recall, and repairs in February of 2013. They first did not perform the recalls correctly which I had to bring the car back for multiple times and even went so far as to damage my right rear passenger door, which they repaired free of cost. The problems I am currently having with the vehicle involve an inferior repair to the suspension of the vehicle whereby the suspension was replaced for the front of the vehicle, but the wiring that attaches to the vehicle was not properly refastened. This resulted in the wiring getting shredded. I have photos of the damage. I have contacted this company as well as my father multiple times leaving voice-mail and have not received any responses. The vehicle sat at the dealership for over 2 months when I initially brought it in for the recalls for which no paperwork was provided to me and I was told that it would be mailed to me. I also have a problem with one of the recalls which put air in the coolant lines that sloshes when the gas engine is turned on, this as been brought to the service adviser's attention and has not been addressed to date. Currently the car can't be driven due to the damaged wiring and has been sitting in my driveway for months now. This has gone on much too long and has to be addressed immediately.Regards,[redacted]

Review: On October 17th 2015 I went to go purchase a car at colonial toyota in [redacted], CT and two sales men helped me one by the name of Danny p[redacted] and another named Eric. I was doing a trade in for my old vehicle a 2004 Toyota Camry. Once I chose the new car we began to do some paper work and get the insurance switched from the old car to the new one. I called my insurance [redacted] but the payment for the next two months was too high because my daughter had an accident in the past. Since I know how much my bills are each month I was going to leave with my old car because I couldn't afford the insurance payments for the next two months. Danny comes over and says "I got approval to pay the insurance for the rest of the year we are going to call our local insurance company we use to see the quotes if they are reasonable". The local insurance company was too high of a payment as well it was around $570.00 for each of the next two months. Danny said that's too high try some other insurance companies and see what they say. We called around and each insurance was still too high. Finally I called my insurance company back and reinstated my insurance the payment was much lower now that I have spoken to a different representative. I told Danny amount letting him know how much it would be for the next two months. It was $387.45 for November and December; which was still too high for me but Danny was suppose to be covering this amount. Danny says ok much better. Never once was I told that if it was not through their local insurance company then it could not be paid. I called Danny for two weeks straight he said he would call me back and get it all taken care of. Finally two days before the payment is due I get a call saying that "the offer was only valid if I used the local insurance company and the insurance can not be paid to my insurance company [redacted]". Now I am stuck with a $387.45 insurance payment for two months that's I can't afford. I have other bills to pay which is why I was just going to leave with my old car and come back another time. I didn't leave because I was told my insurance would be paid and I won't have to start payment until January. This is a big issue for me because I know what I can afford but I was told the insurance would be all set and I would have no worries but now I'm stuck in a bind.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for November insurance and for Decembers insurance to be paid.

I do not feel comfortable and also do not feel safe in this car anymore.

Review: On January of 2013 the Colonial Toyota contacted and told me that they had a good deal to exchange/trade in a car. I went to the dealer in Milford, CT and I spoke to a sales representative by the name of [redacted] who told me that he would exchange my current car which was a 2011 Toyota Corolla for a 2013 Toyota Corolla with the same payment amount of $329.00 a month; but never told me that it was going to be a lease contract. On February 20th I noticed that I was in a leased contract because I received a statement from the bank. I have contacted and been going to the dealer on several occasions and supposely they're working to change the contract from a lease to finance. I notioced they are giving the running around and nothing is getting resolve. I would like for your agency to help me resol this problem. I would like to have this contract from a lease to finance because I do not believe in leasing, to me is throwing my money away. (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

I [redacted] is writing this response on behalf of Mr. [redacted] who does not speak English. After I submitted this complaint to the Revdex.com, I followed up with [redacted] at Toyota Colonial and he told me he was working with the bank so they can transfer Mr. [redacted] from a lease to finance. After couple of days I received a text message from [redacted] stating that he no longer is taking care of Mr. [redacted]'s case since I had filed a complaint thru Revdex.com and now who was taking care was [redacted], left several messages so I can ask him for help and could not get in touch with him at all. Finally I was able to speak to a manager by the name of [redacted] and I explained the situation and he told me that the bank had DECLINED Mr. [redacted] application for a loan and therefore they could not transfer the lease to finance. On April 20th Mr. [redacted] and I went to the dealer and spoke with [redacted] a manager the same person who I had spoken last and told me basically the same thing I did not qualify to change to another cheaper car since Mr. [redacted] did not qualify since he has been declined. On that same day Mr. [redacted] left the car at the dealer and Mr. [redacted] called the bank on April 23rd to let them know that he no longer has the car on his possession. Mr. [redacted] told me to make this statement: I truly do not recommend anyone to purchase car thru this dealer because they lied to me to do their sale. I want to make this clear again the sales person by the name of [redacted] lied to Mr. [redacted] when he sold the car, he told him that he was financing it not leasing it. I recommend that The Revdex.com should investigate Colonial Toyota dealer with their wrong selling practices.

Review: This dealership is contractually obligated to register my vehicle in my home state of [redacted]. this dealership broke the terms and conditions of this contract and has tried to extort me for the amount of $1360.00. for an error the company has made. this company has offered to pay half of the amount and has admitted fault and admitted thy have made an error. I refuse to be extorted for any amount of money. the dealership has not registered my vehicle in **.Desired Settlement: I would only ask that colonial Toyota [redacted] abide by the terms and conditions of there contract and register my vehicle in **... Since colonial Toyota has breached this contract I believe legal action should be taken against colonial Toyota in order to protect future consumers.*I wish to return this vehicle due to the breach of contract.*contract terms and conditions have not been met from dealership. *services and contractual obligations the dealership has neglected to provide.
