Colonial Village at Grapevine

This is regarding Colonial Village at *** in ***, ***.
We have only lived here since October of 2019. At first we started out having issues with residents in 1424. Their kids run around at all times. They (the parents) just let the run around for hours on end. That gets pretty noisy. We've even had to leave our apartment because the noise got so bad. We are finally ate a place were we are in constant communication with them, so I don't want anything to be said to them at the moment. I bring this up because this provides background and hopefully you would understand why we are so upset about the noise.

The biggest issues we are having is with residents in *** and ***. With them these issues all started around December 25, 2019. In *** they play their music loud at all times of the day and night. At 2pm on January 2, 2020 was trying to watch tv but the noise coming from *** was interferring with me watching tv. Hard to watch tv when you hear the noise coming from the person's radio. (Sounds like they have a subwoofer or surround sound) I went and knocked on their door several times. No one answered. So I went to the office and spoke with *** in person about them. She said she would call them and moments later it got quiet. Well it started back up the next day. We are trying to be patient with them, but on January 16, 2020 I submitted a complaint on the contact us portion of the resident website about ***. It was a 9:34pm Got a response the next day and they said to call the police.

Residents in ***. Started having issues with them on December 25, 2019. I went and spoke with a resident in *** on December 28, 2019 at 9:30am. A kid answered the door and it appeared I woke them up. I wasn't sure if his parents were home or even awake so I made it brief. I explained to them we can hear the noise coming from your apartment since we share a wall with them. The noise being a loud tv/radio with surround sound. I asked him to keep it down because at 1030 at night people are trying to sleep. After being patient with them the noise continued so on January 16, 2020 at 9:34pm I submitted a complaint via the contact us section. Their response was to call the police.

January 23, 2020 called police at 10:37pm on the residents in ***. Loud tv, can hear it on our side of the wall
January 29, 2020 at 9:00pm I almost called the cops because it was so loud coming from ***. It was quiet briefly and then out of the blue at around 9pm loud noise could be heard coming from them and it was so loud it scared our dog. She started howling because it terrified her.

11:58pm- Called police about residents in ***. Loud music.

I was awoken at 6am this morning February 3, 2020 by more noise. Was too tired to get up.

As you can see we have been having numerous issues with residents in *** and ***. (In addition to the ongoing noise from residents in 1424, but since they are communicating with us we are willing to work with them) All we want is peace and quiet. Most of the noise from *** comes at night. Most of the noise from *** comes at all times of the day and night. We are tired of losing sleep. We are tired of not being able to watch our own tv in peace. We don't feel like the people in the office at Colonial Village of *** cares enough. They keep pushing us to the cops.

Leasing office at Colonial Village in Grapevine has unethical leasing practices
On 5/6/2019 I visited the Colonial Village and spoke with *** on leasing a 1 b.d. Apartment. After seeing a model, as the unit I would be renting was not available to show, I applied and had a scheduled move in date of 7/20/19. I paid $220 for the processing and application fee. I have toured this facility a year prior and am well aware of the community and furnishings.

On 7/17/2019 I asked *** if I can view the unit before I sign my lease. She said it was not available to show as there were vendors making repairs.

I had scheduled electricity and forwarded mail to the address prior to 7/20/19.

On 7/20/19, I I wanted to inspect the unit before signing the lease. I found the unit to not be aligned to what was shown in the model.

The unit had a cigarette odor, a broken shelving unit, a screen door that had been removed due to a wasp nest. There was also mold in the unit as well as the storage area. There was black soot that was not easily removed all on the fire place and on the walls. The unit was not move in ready as was promised when I made a good faith payment for the processing and application fee.

I was informed by *** there were no alternative units available, but all of the issues could be remedied, but only after I move and and sign the lease.

I informed *** I would not be signing a lease, and would like my application and processing fee to be refunded in full.
