I try to be fair with my reviews because rarely is anything all good or all bad. With that said I must tell you that the Colorado State Fair is the worst state fair experience I have had in all of the midwest state fairs I have visited.In 2013 the fair board has instituted a new policy that prohibits fair patrons from buying food using cash, check or personal credit card. A patron MUST buy a food card from the state fair before they are allowed to eat of drink a beverage on state fair property. A patron must pay the fair board a small fee for the priviledge of eating or drinking anything. That is in addition to paying a fair entrance fee.
The fair board will not refund any money you don't use on the card during your fair visit. You either have to buy food you don't want, come back another day and pay a new entrance fee, save the card and use it next year, waste the remaining money on the card, or fill out a special request for the remaining funds and wait for weeks to get the refund in the mail. This is an example of ridiculous government by committee. The fair board needs to be replaced and while they are at it move the fair ro a different location so it can grow.It is a dying entity.
