When the customer first called our shop, he had asked how much for a transmission flush? [redacted] , the shop manager, asked the customer why he needed a transmission flush? His response was the transmission is slippingHe already added some fluid and it helped a little bit [redacted] suggested bringing the vehicle down for us to inspect to find the route cause of the problemWhen the vehicle arrived, the transmission was already quarts low on fluid and had a very large leak from the transmission pan gasketAfter discovering this, [redacted] proceeded to talk the customer and explain the findings [redacted] said this is where we need to startWe have to fix the large leak first, fill the transmission to the proper operating level then recheckWhen the transmission is ran too low consistently (and considering the customer said it was already slipping) there may already be internal damageThe customer agreed to proceed with the repairsWhen the pan was removed, there was excessive metal/chunks at the bottom of the pan [redacted] showed the customer and explained what we had found (and showed him the pan with the metal/chunks inside)We finished the repairs (replaced the transmission filter, pan gasket and filled the transmission) and test drove the vehicle which was shifting fine at the time when it leftThe customer then called later in the day and said it is still slippingThe customer brought the vehicle back and at this time it had internal transmission/torque converter fault codesWe let the customer know that unfortunately the transmission will have to be replacedWe then said we would apply what he had paid for the previous repairs toward the price of a transmissionWe gave the customer options for replacing the transmissionThe customer was not happy with this solution
