Re: Complaint # [redacted] Colt Dry Cleaners and Laundry To Whom It May Concern: Please be advised that the customer dropped off a navy blue raincoat on-3/13/14. As stated the coat had been hanging in her closet collecting dust. The coat was cleaned according to the care... instruction "Dry Clean Only" using an industry standard solvent, perchloroethylene. The coat was processed twice due to the condition it was stored. The coat was then pressed, delinted, and bagged, The customer returned on 3/17/14 inspected the garment and stated that there was still lint on the coat. The Manager lifted the cover and delinted the minute fibers in front of the customer. The customer paid and left satisfied. Later that day, the customer called and said she did not think the coat was cleaned, that it smelled like cigarette smoke, and still had lint and dust. We assured her that it was cleaned twice, pressed and delinted a second time in her presence but she was welcome to bring it back. The customer returned on 3/18. The Manager inspected the coat and did not detect any cigarette smoke, lint or dust. ( Please note that there is no smoking in our facility, per [redacted] , nor do any of the staff smoke cigarettes. Perhaps the odor was in her home.) The coat was later inspected by the dry cleaner! owner, with the same conclusion. The coat was again dry cleaned, pressed, delinted, and then inspected. The customer returned on 3119/14 looked at the coat and again said there was still lint on the coat and she wanted her money back. The dry cleaner/owner was summoned and the customer was advised that we had processed the coat three times and that there was nothing more we could do for her. The customer states "THE WORST SERVICE EVER" yet we feel we made every effort to satisfy the customer in a very professional and friendly manner. We have been serving the Community for over 23 years and been in the dry cleaning business for over 30 We take great pride in our customer service and quality of work. The coat was not covered in lint and wrinkled as stated by the customer, therefore we can only conclude that we would never be able to satisfy this customer. We provided excellent service and care in the cleaning of the customers garment and will not be issuing a refund. Please contact us should you have any further questions. Sincerely, Colt Dry Cleaners and Laundry [redacted] /Owner

To Whom It May Concern:

Please be advised that the customer dropped off a black winter coat to be dry cleaned. The coat was cleaned using an industry standard solvent, perchlorothylene.

The care label did not indicate that the coat could not be dry cleaned using this solvent nor...

were there any international symbols stating same.

During the cleaning, the button tops had all fallen off from the stems that were sewn on the coat. Unbeknownst to the dry cleaner/owner,  the button tops were glued onto the stems. Perchlorothylene dissolves glue.

[redacted] wanted to speak with the customer directly to explain the situation and see if she wanted to pick out buttons, etc.

As stated, the customer came in several days after the due date and the manager summoned  [redacted]. While [redacted] was explaining the issue with the customer, she became extremely agitated. Before [redacted] was able to offer any solutions, she started loudly raising her voice stating we had ruined her coat and what was our policy on this issue.

[redacted] explained we did not ruin her coat (Please keep in mind that we are talking about plastic buttons.) and that we disclaim responsibility for buttons. The customer asked where the policy was and [redacted] showed her that it was posted right next to her.  The customer read the notice and calmed down.  [redacted] was then able to make the offer of purchasing new buttons that were most similar to the originals and have them sewn on.

We purchased buttons most similar to original at [redacted], copy of receipt enclosed. I sewed the buttons on the coat and the coat was then pressed and looked great.

The customer came in and the manager proceeded to show her the coat. The customer literally began yelling that the buttons were not the same, and again said we had ruined her coat and walked out the door with out paying for the cleaning of her coat.

I had just exited from my car and was in the parking lot when I witnessed  the customer throwing her coat in the trunk.   [redacted] came out and  told the customer she needed to pay for our services. (No profanity was used)

At which time the woman began screaming a barrage of profanities and calling him derogatory names, again stating that we ruined her coat and she would not pay.

[redacted] did indeed say, fine if your not going to pay for the cleaning, then we want the buttons back. [redacted] asked me if l could use the seam ripper and remove the buttons. The customer then began ripping off the buttons  in a fit of rage and throwing the buttons at [redacted]. There was nothing careful about the way she was removing the buttons.

In conclusion.

We have been serving the Community for over 23 years and take great pride in our customer service and quality of work. Although we have a disclaimer posted , we have always assisted our customers, should there be a manufacturing issue.

We feel that we provided excellent service and it is unfortunate that the customer did indeed ruin her own coat as stated.

We have enclosed a copy of the receipt from [redacted]. A copy of the disclaimer that is posted.

An original button and the new replacement button. As you can see, there is nothing special about the looks of either buttons nor would the replacement buttons constitute that the coat was ruined.

Please contact us should you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Owners
