Colter was contracted with ** *** to repair a generator , instead they extorted money out of a legally-blind 82yr old woman "pay me or I won't repair" situation...it's an emergency bagenerator that MS *** cannot live without (due to her medical conditions, she must have power 24/7)She bought the materials (** is reimbursing her for those expenses) but then conned her credit card number out of her and made illegal, unauthorized $charge** already had a contract for him to repair the generator, hence ** would pay himBut instead he extorted money and committed fraud upon Ms *** and then further recently charged her after ** had fired him!!

The owner of this business was unprofessional, called me honey. When asked to resolve an issue of service that was done. I believe was a miscommunication between our landscaper and Colter Electric. I asked for a quote on how much more it would cost to fix the electrical issue. The owner refused to rectify the situation. When I asked how much more it would cost me, and if I can get a written quote, he refused to furnish a written quote. He told me I was being rude, and he didnt want to work with me. He stated a verbal quote estimation, and that should be enough. I was willing to pay the additional amount to fix the problem. But he was unwilling to give me a quote. This could of been resolved if the owner of Colter Electric been professional. I asked him if he was a member of Revdex.com, he stated no. But his website states Accredited with Revdex.com. When I addressed that with him, he said he never lied. Intergrity, where has it gone?

The owner of this business is the most unprofessional person we have ever dealt with. We requested some work to be done and the owner verbally committed a price to us over the phone. He did not provide us a written quote. That was our first mistake. We should have requested a written quote from him. He did some initial work for us and then we had some drywall to do before he could finish. When we completed the drywall we called and texted him several times with no response. Finally after 5 attempts we were able to get a hold of him and his guys completed the work. When we received the bill it was triple the amount he initially quoted us. The bill did not contain any detail whatsoever. When we asked about the price difference (fair question, right?) he immediately attacked us and accused us of not going to pay bill. We responded asking for detail( hrs worked, material cost, etc) so we know what we are paying for. We were by no means not going to pay him nor gave him any reason to believe so. We are not those types of people at all and it was extremely unprofessional for them to treat customers that way when we were just asking for more detail so we knew what we were paying for. He then continued to go back and forth with nasty emails, one threatening that he was going to come into our house and take everything he put into it. Long story but he finally provided us with the material detail and provided us with a total labor hours. The labor hours were ridiculous. He basically charged us for a entire extra day plus some for 2 employees (24hrs++). We had family staying at our house that knew when the workers were done. Keep in mind this was ONE room with a few cam lights and he charged 55 hours. Ridiculous!! The material was way over priced as well. When we asked him to breakup the 55 hrs so we knew what day and times he refused. He then turned us into collections (keep in mind just 2weeks after initially sending invoice. Yes, before invoice was even due.) He also threatened to put a lien on our house. We explained to collections guy our situation. We just wanted breakdown on hours so we could settle the bill and be done. The collections guy finally was able to get the breakout on hours. First he charged us for 18hrs on a day they were not even at our house (??). The list goes on with this guy. We ended up having another professional electrician come and give us a quote for work Colter Electric had done. Their price was 1/3 of what CE charged us. We did end up paying Colter Electric for the overpriced material and days they were at our house. We actually paid for more hours as they were not there the full days that they mentioned. Overall I would Never recommend them to anyone. There are a bunch more honest, professional electricians in Flagstaff and it's a shame Colter Electric is not one of them. Do your research!!! Lesson learned for sure!

I have worked with Colter Electric on several occasions and couldn't be more pleased. I read the other negative reviews and can't speak to them but would just add that our experience has been totally different. We have received a written estimate when he was working with our General Contractor on our business. We received a verbal estimate (ball park) when we worked directly with them and note that we did not ask for a written estimate. Both methods worked for us and they were true to their word. It hasn't mattered if we have a large job or a small job, Colter Electric did an excellent job. A point to note is that if I call at the last minute, I may not be able to get the work done in a timely manner because of other commitments they have. On the one occasion when this happened, they were able to work me in when another job got a little delayed. Being a business owner myself, I completely understand these kinds of things.

I would not and will not hesitate to use Colter Electric again in the future. I have used other electrical contractors in the Flagstaff area who are competent and do a good job. However, Colter Electric has become our go to electrical contractor when needed because of their professionalism, expertise and actually listening to what we want.

We needed an electrician, so I asked a trusted contractor friend for a recommendation - he suggested Colter. The young man arrived within an hour of my call, he was very pleasant, got right to work and resolved our problem promptly. He was here just under an hour and charged $60.00. I think that was reasonable, especially for Flagstaff. He called back to make sure everything was working. I would definitely call him again and certainly will recommend Colter if asked.

I have used Colter Electric many times for both major and minor electrical projects. Each time I've contacted the company, I've gotten a quick reply and an appointment scheduled. We've had both the owner of the company, as well as some of his employees do work for us and my husband and I are always happy with the outcome. They are reliable, friendly, knowledgeable and clean. I highly recommend them to all my friends and family!
