December 4, 2015.  This vehicle was purchase from a used car lot as a used vehicle in AS IS condition.  The AS IS was signed.  An aftermarket Service Contract was purchased.  This Service Contract covers:1. ENGINE and WATER PUMP2. TRANSMISSION3. TRANSFER CASE4. TAXES AND FLUIDS5. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE A copy of this Service Contract is attached with this letter.[redacted] and/or [redacted] has brought this vehicle into Newton’s on several occasions since the date of purchase.  The rear driver’s door had a wiring issue in which Newton’s mechanics re-wired free of charge.  The exhaust manifold gasket was leaking before this vehicle was sold. [redacted] & [redacted] were told Newton’s Car Corner would repair that.  Once the parts arrived for the exhaust manifold it was repaired at Newton’s cost.  The exhaust manifold was removed, taken to Lake Auto Parts to be planed back to level, a new gasket installed and the manifold put back on.  During the exhaust manifold gasket replacement, the rear driver’s door was fixed again—free of charge.  A copy of the scheduled work dated 04/11/16 with [redacted] had writing stating “rear end is now starting to make noise” and [redacted] (Newton’s employee) had writing stating “sometimes when driving over curb rear end ‘pops’”.  [redacted] made these notes based on the information provided by the customer.  In black marker the mechanic [redacted] wrote “bad” above the rear end notes once he was able to test drive the truck.  Once all of the complaints were assessed and the repairs were completed Newton’s Car Corner offered to assist [redacted] and [redacted] by offering to pay for the labor if they pay for the parts to repair the rear end of this vehicle.  As listed above the rear end was not covered by the after-market service contract they purchased with this vehicle.  Even though this vehicle was purchased used, with an AS IS signed, Newton’s did offer to help.  After purchasing this vehicle [redacted] put a lift and larger after-market tires on it.  The change in angle from stock to lifted as well as off-road traversing does not bode well for a used vehicle and its rear end.  Again as noted on the Scheduled Work dated 04/11/16 [redacted] herself wrote “rear end is starting to make noise”.  Key word “starting”.  Newton’s has taken all of the steps to assist this customer stay on the road by offering to pay the labor charges for a new rear end.  All of these steps are above and beyond due to the fact that this was a used vehicle purchased AS IS.  If there are any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.
