Columbia Motor Sports Reviews (1)

Review: I used Columbia Motorsports to sell my bike on consignment. They told me their standard fee was 15% of the sale and they would list it with a starting price of $4250. I signed several papers, including one that was explained to me as the lowest offer I would accept, but I was told I would have the ability to approve the sale. 9 days after I left the bike I was called and told it sold and I would be receiving my check for the lowest amount $2500, and I needed to pay for the agreed upon service. I told them I did not approve that sale amount because I had already found a private seller for more than that. They told me it was too late. When they mailed me a check for the $2500 - less the service fees owed, they included the lowest offer amount only paper. No information on sale price, and none of the paperwork stating the 15% commission fee, and if they had the bike only 9 days, why did they not try to get more (I was verbally told $3700+/- and they had to include $600 in accessories to make the sale), or honor me stating I did not want to sell the bike for that price?Desired Settlement: Ideally I would like my bike back, since again I told them not to sell it for that price. If that is legitimately not an option, I would like to see the actual sales paperwork for the $3700 and receive the difference of that amount less the 15% sales commission (and amount of service work owed) I was told and not including accessories that were "thrown in".$3700 - $259.01 (service fees) - $555 commission fee = $2885.99$2885.99 - $2240.99 (check received) = $645 additional owed minimum.

RE: Complaint ID [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

Thank you for your letter of June 17, 2014 regarding the above subject complaint.

[redacted] came into our store several weeks ago asking us to sell her 2009 [redacted] for her because she was moving and could not take the motorcycle with her. We understood her plight and offered to take the motorcycle in on consignment. [redacted] signed a consignment agreement that she would receive $2500 less service fees. The service fees included a safety inspection as well as installation of tires totaling $259.01. On June 12, 2014, [redacted] was expressed our check No. [redacted] in the amount of $2240.99 ($2500 less $259.01). We can provide copies of all of the paperwork by [redacted].

At no time were we ever notified that [redacted] was continuing to seek a buyer for the 2009 [redacted]. Only after I called her to obtain her mailing address to send the check, was there ever any mention of another interested buyer.

Quite frankly, [redacted] came to us with a problem and we helped her solve it.

Sincerely,

[redacted]
