Columbia Plateau, Inc Reviews (2)

We've used this company a number of times over the past years and found it to be consistently efficient, professional and fairly priced. Their work has been of high quality.

I am writing this review due to the complete awful experience that I am currently dealing with as they work in my condo complex. They were hired to reroof 5-6 unit building with 3 of those buildings having garages. The letter explaining what would be happening stated that this entire process would take a total of three weeks. It is now week 5 going on 6 and they are maybe a little over halfway done. Some of the crew is very nice and respectful and some are the polar opposite. They leave some of their trash from lunch and the construction littering around the buildings, saying that they will be picking it up at the end of the job.
With the garbage issue comes also with the nail from tearing off the old roof. They say that at the end of each day they make sure they are all picked up and they use a magnet and what not. Well I can tell you that they do not. I have found multiple nails outside my door, in my backyard area, on my patio, in my parking spot, in my neighbors parking spots, in front of the garages, in the main driveways. Oh, did I mention that I went out to my car one day and found that both of my front tires were flat? That is when I stopped parking in the parking lot after they leave and clean up for the day. It is really frustrating. Especially when I told the HOA president and he told me that they couldn't do anything about it, that the nails that popped my tires couldn't be linked to the nails that are currently everywhere in the complex.
The last straws as it were are two things. One is that as they have been working on my building they only plug into my units outside outlets to run their air compressor and other related work equipment. For about two weeks. I'm not sure how much that will raise my electricity bill but it has blown the breaker twice now since the outside outlets are also connected to my outlet that my air conditioner is on. They have finally plugged into someone else's outlets since the last time it blew I didn't reset it. Honestly, if they would have asked if they could plug in I don't think I would have minded but they didn't, and I was also given no notice from the HOA that I would be reimbursed or that it was part of the contract and that 1 person in each building would be the one to pay for everything.
My last, and major complaint is that I and two other people have almost been hit by falling equipment twice now. The first time was a stapler which I didn't get any warning about that it was falling and just was asked if we could throw it back up. Luckily that time I was actually talking to the HOA president at the time when it came down. The last time just happened Sunday evening. A open box of vents (the all aluminum kind that are super light weight and sharp) fell off the roof of my two story building and almost hit my friend that I had over for dinner and one of the vents came out and went over the fence that separates our complex from the next and almost hit a guy. Now if they were working I understand about falling items like the stapler, but this was Sunday evening and they don't work on the weekends. So it had been there since Friday afternoon. On the roof of a 2 story building. In the notoriously windy Ellensburg of all places. I'm very glad no one was hurt, but I have two kids and that box could have come down at any moment. My wife tried to contact the Owner of the company on his cell phone that was listed to explain our displeasure and to get some answers. As of the time of this writing , Wednesday, we have yet to hear from him or any other representative of the company. I just want people to know what they are getting into if they try and do business with these folks.
