[redacted] - Never rented from us. On 5/4/17 reservation was submitted by "[redacted]" for 5/21/2017 for a single Waverunner and they suppose to pickup from our location. They were a No Show. The following week (Memorial Day Weekend), [redacted] contact us and demanded his Jetski. We were booked that...

weekend with no Jetski available and advise we didn't have them listed for that specific date they submitted the reservation for 5/21/17 and that was not CRBR fault. We refer them to Riverside Recreation Jet Ski rental in Orondo as we usually do when booked (Which we really doubt John would say that about CRBR). Again, We understand the frustration from [redacted] but we were not at fault if they chose the wrong week from [redacted] on behalf of [redacted].Also, The $25 reservation fee was refunded out of courtesy. We are not entitle to give him a "$200 store credit" for service never provided. This sounds like he's wanting to get a free rental at no charge. Think about it, If he believes we are that bad... Why would he want to use our service? See attached original reservation form  with date, ip address and $25 reservation fee refund receipt.

Review: On Saturday, August 31st 2013 I rented a Pontoon boat from this company. I was told it would be $25 to reserve it, $80 to deliver it, and $425 to use it for the day (8 hours). I had the boat in working condition for a total of 15 minutes. When I tried to use it again, the transmission was shot. It wouldn't move forward or reverse. When I further inspected the motor/prop, I noticed that the prop had significant damage, and as a former boat owner this is highly dangerous to continue renting this boat out. I instantly called the company explaining what I've found and that it was not any damage incurred while in my possession. Anyone that has owned a boat knows that if something hits your prop, it's like a concussion grenade. The fastest I had this boat that day was 3 knots, taking it from the marina at Crescent Bar, to a dock just outside of the marina...yet the company claims I broke the radio, the prop, and the transmission in this short amount of time. He promised me a full refund, then came back via a phone call stating that he would still have to charge me for a delivery fee of $80. I believe this scam is done to save up for repairs needed on this boat. He then proceeded to yell at me and my friends over the phone, and in my opinion is unfit for business ownership AND his product is unsafe for consumer usage. I refused to pay the $80, and he still charged my account without my consent.Desired Settlement: This company should not be in business, and should have their license suspended for illegal and unsafe practices.

Response:

Please see attachment from Rental Agreement. Mr. [redacted] was under charged and refunded for the full day boat rental out of courtesy as he certified by initials and signature "THE RENTER CERTIFIES THAT HE HAS EXAMINED THE CRAFT AND EQUIPMENT AND FINDS IT ACCEPTABLE AND SUITABLE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS LEASED"

There is several discrepancy with his claim:

"I was told it would be $25 to reserve it, $80 to deliver it, and $425 to use it

for the day (8 hours)."

- As you can see, He was fully aware of the $80 delivery/pickup fee for the boat at Crescent Bar Resort which is non-refundable.

"I had the boat in working condition for a total of 15 minutes"

- He is NOT denying the boat was in working conditions at time of his possession, Meaning... Propeller had to be working properly upon delivery/rental.

"When I tried to use it again, the transmission was shot. It wouldn't move

forward or reverse. When I further inspected the motor/prop, I noticed that the

prop had significant damage, and as a former boat owner this is highly dangerous

to continue renting this boat out. I instantly called the company explaining

what I've found and that it was not any damage incurred while in my possession."

-Upon further inspection, There was nothing wrong with boat mechanics, or transmission... Mr. [redacted] had damage the propeller and hub from the lower gear unit. Meaning: When putting boat on gear, propeller was NOT spinning due to broken hub and propeller. We paid $145 fee for the propeller and hub kit and had it replaced the same day while in our possession. Boat was fixed without any other problems.

"The fastest I had this boat that day was 3 knots, taking it from the marina at

Crescent Bar, to a dock just outside of the marina...yet the company claims I

broke the radio, the prop, and the transmission in this short amount of time. He

promised me a full refund, then came back via a phone call stating that he would

still have to charge me for a delivery fee of $80. I believe this scam is done

to save up for repairs needed on this boat."

-Now this is where the problem/damage occurred... Somewhere between the Marina at Crescent Bar (Boat was rented) and the dock outside the marina (by his rental property). Somewhere between point "A" to point "B" Mr. [redacted] damage the propeller and hub. We had to drive to his location and tow boat back to marina. Also, We never claim he broke the radio and transmission from the boat. Out of courtesy I offer to refund the full amount for the boat rental and was advise unable to refund $80 for delivery/pickup fee since b oat was delivery to his location.

He was fully liable for propeller damage and full day boat rental fee since damage occurred while in his possession. Again... We never charged Mr. [redacted] for the damage propeller ($140) and boat rental ($425) when technicality we ARE entitle for full charge. We NOW feel it was a mistake NOT to bill him for the full amount.

FYI: After replaced the $140 propeller/hub that was damage while in possession from Mr. [redacted], The boat was rented to a different client/group the following day on 9/01/13 we have a proof and statement from the group of 14 people on that day (9/1/13) boat was in good working conditions.

This claim will be forward to company's law office for further review.

Thank You.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This man is lying and hiding behind a contract rather doing what is right from a business ethics standpoint. As a business owner, I would hope that he would understand this. His product was barely functional upon arrival with substantial damage to the prop. Either he damaged the prop putting the boat in the water off the trailer (Prior to my arrival), or a customer prior to me did it, and he left it on there hoping it would be good enough for this weekend avoiding the out of pocket expenses. He knows how long I had this boat in my possession. My phone records will show how soon I called him after leaving the dock with concerns about the damages that we found. I have an eye witness to testify that we did not exceed a speed necessary to damage the prop to that extent. I've attached a map of our usage of this vessel. By road, this distance is .09 miles. It took us about 15-20 minutes to get from Point A, to Point B which will also attest to our speed. It's about the same amount of time it took us to WALK to the Marina from the house. When I left the Marina, I took the boat out past the no wake zone to avoid any shallows, then hung a right to the dock above. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to accrue this damage under these circumstances. There can be no resolve in this matter, since he has a contract to hide behind. However I have several witnesses that heard him say "FULL REFUND, NO CHARGE". Then he proceeded to charge my card illegally for a delivery of a faulty and unsafe product.

In your email, you state the following...

"Please

remember that by filing a complaint with Revdex.com, you are representing that

it is a truthful account of your experience with the business."

This man, [redacted], is lying on his entire account of what transpired that morning. He showed up by himself and unloaded a large vessel with no help, when he had previously asked me to bring help. Why would he do this, unless he is trying to hide something?? Then he races through the introduction of the boat, completely avoiding the prop. Perhaps a renter should know how to trim up the prop in case there are people swimming in the water??? But no, he knew of the existing damage to the prop, and wanted to get it in the water beyond my view before I arrived. His business license should be revoked, as he is NOT a reliable business owner and he is not interested in the safety of his clientele, but only in his selfish income.
