Review: In April of 2013 I hired Comfort Caregivers to place a care giver in my home to care for my mother who recent [redacted]. The 24 hour care provider worked out well however after two months, my mother was unable to afford or need this extent of care. I then requested that a caregiver come into the home for 5 hours a day to help with everyday tasks (laundry, personal hygiene, preparing meals, light housework etc.). The caregiver was late almost everyday. On July 12, my mother had a doctors appointment and the caregiver was necessary to assist me. She did not show up, nor did she show on any day after that. After three days of not showing, I contacted [redacted] to inform her of the situation, by her response she apparently already knew that the caregiver had left the job but neglected to inform me, the customer. I stated that I would not be paying for any day after 7/11 as the caregiver is the one who left the job. Why do we not deserve a weeks notice. I received an invoice on August 21, stating that there was a balance due. I was concerned because I had already paid for the services provided in full. On 8/23 I called to speak to billing administrator [redacted] about a charge that was on a invoice that was sent to me on 8/21. He stated that he would look into it and get back to me on 8/27. He never called and then I recieved another invoice on 8/29 that still did not explain the charge. So I called him again on 9/3 and he was being very rude and stated he would not investigate the charge. Then he proceeded to state false accusation of me following a threat to see me in small claims court and hung up on me. I called him back and stated that it was very un-professional and then he hung up again.Desired Settlement: I have since paid the invoice but I feel that Comfort Caregivers should revise their contract to include situations stated above. I would also like a written apology for the ridiculous accusations that Mr. [redacted] was saying. In addition I would like the Revdex.com to reconsider the A+ rating of this business. They are extremely unprofessional and do not deserve this rating in my opinion.

Re: Complaint # [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

In response to your request I am providing the following commentary. Mr. [redacted]'s statement that our caregiver did not report for duty on Friday,July 12,Saturday,July 13,and Sunday, July

14, 2013 is correct. However, prior to Sunday afternoon,July 14th, our office was unaware of the caregiver's absence. Neither the caregiver herself nor Mr. [redacted] contacted the office with this information . It was the caregiver who called the office initially that Sunday to advise the age ncy that she had not reported for work since she left Mrs. [redacted] early Thursday

evening. She stated at that time that she no longer wished to serve on this case. She claimed to feel uncomfortable about being in the presence of Mr. [redacted]. Shortly thereafter Mr. [redacted] called to state that the caregiver had not arrived, nor had she reported for work since Thursday, July 11 . Mr. [redacted] was advised that until literally moments before, we were unaware of the caregiver's absence and would have a permanent replacement on the job the next day. Mr. [redacted] declined our offer, and stated that he was terminating further services. He was subsequently billed only for the actual hours worked Sunday, July ih through Thursday ,July 11, 2013 (5 days), the caregiver's last day of service. As per our contractual agreement,Mr. [redacted] agreed to give a one week notice before terminating services, or a fee equal to one full week (7 days) would be billed. As a consideration for this uncommon situation,Comfort Caregivers reduced the notice fee and billed Mr.[redacted] for only four days instead of one full week (7 days).

On August 23, 2013, Mr. [redacted] called my office to inquire about the rema ining balance due. I issued a duplicate invo ice with a w ritten explanation conc erning the "one week notice" provision stated in the original agreement for [redacted]'s care fo r which Mr. [redacted] signed as her Power of Attorney. Assuming that Mr. [redacted] did indeed call me again with the same question, I can only conclude that his strategy was to deny the obvious in order to evade his fiduciary responsibility to [redacted]. I do apologize if my frankness in stating and restating the facts was misconstrued as being of a rude tone. As to Mr. [redacted]'s comment relating to a purported "false accusation" being made of him,it is not our policy to question or to pass judgment on the veracity of any incident of this nature but to replace the caregiver to protect all parties. If small claims court had been the only remedy remaining in this matter;that would have been Mr. [redacted]'s choice.

I consider Mr. [redacted]'s desired settlement unrealistic as our contract does indeed clearly define the terms and conditions that Mr. [redacted] refuses to recognize. A written apology for the "ridiculous accusations" would imply that the reason for our caregiver to request to be taken off the case was untrue. As stated above, our policy is to change personnel when an incident of this nature is alleged. Mr. [redacted]'s request to the Revdex.com to downgrade our A+ rating, would fly in the face of our exemplary record of serving hundreds of clients over the last eight years without a single complaint filed with the Revdex.com. The predominance of evidence provided here would tend to discredit Mr. [redacted]'s claim and regard his request for punitive action on the Bureau's part as unwarranted.

Respectfully,

[redacted], Administrator
