Review: I am a tenant at [redacted]. I have an agreement with my landlord that any repairs under $150, I will pay for. I was having trouble with the air conditioning and contacted Comfortable Environments, as they had been here in the past to work on the unit. I advised my landlord of the situation and he was in agreement that the problem should be investigated. My boyfriend was here when the technician came to the condo on 6/29/15. He reported to me that the technician arrived, checked the mechanisms in the unit and then went outside. The technician told my boyfriend that something had broken on the compressor and he replaced and fixed it. My boyfriend was not clear on what to do with the billing situation, so he told to contact my landlord. My landlord asked me a few times if they left a bill or sent anything in the mail. Nothing had come for a couple of weeks. My landlord attempted to call the company to discuss the bill, but did not have his phone call returned on more than one occasion. On 7/24/15, a bill arrived from Comfortable Environments for $[redacted] with a due date of 7/21/15.

This is simply outrageous. If such expensive work was required, the technician should have called the owner or tenant to discuss whether the work should be done or postponed. My landlord attempted to reason with the owner of the company, but was unsuccessful in reducing the bill. It is not reasonable to bill for such a large amount without having approval to do the work first. Especially for something that is considered a luxury not a necessity, like air conditioning. In addition, the bill arrived AFTER the due date and phone calls placed to the company by my landlord regarding payment were unanswered. I feel somewhat responsible as I am the tenant living here and had my boyfriend here to provide access for the technician. I feel this billing practice is inappropriate and wrong.Desired Settlement: I feel it is only appropriate that the bill be reduced or if it has already been paid in full, that my landlord be given a refund for part of the bill.
