Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2016/08/20) */
We did go to Mr. [redacted] home on Saturday the 6th of August. My guy did tell him that it would cost him $100.00 to come out and diagnose the problem but only if he decided after we told him what was wrong, he decided not to do the repair. The...

$100.00 never changed hands. The entire invoice was $325.00, not $425.00. With him authorizing the repair, the $100.00 is moot. Its just the repair then. More details, it was a 53 minuite drive each way to his home. Thats why we told him $100.00, its usually only $50.00 to diagnose if there isn't a repair involved. Also, Mr. S[redacted] was out with my tech at the unit upon arrival. Someone had attempted to repair the unit before we got there. The contractor was hanging by 2 wires and had to be mounted and rewired. Then the problem had to be found and fixed. We had to make sure that even whatever someone else had done was fixed because once we touched it, we warranty it. The capacitor was bad. All wiring was straightened out and the unit was started back up. Freon was checked. During this process the homeowner was standing behind my tech telling him how he tried to fix it. He eventually said "Ill leave you to it, Im going back to what I know, wood working" He went back into his shop. We presented him with the invoice, he never said anything at all. Didn't question it or why so much or any complaint at all.
We had almost 2 hours of driving, it was on Saturday, we were not told that he had tried to fix it and then couldn't put it back together. There wasn't any hesitation on fixing the unit as it was 96 degrees that day. We did not deceive him or over charge or misrepresent any thing to Mr. S[redacted].
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2016/08/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
He never came to my door to give me a estimate. That was the compliant. If he had told me in advance it was going to cost me $325.I would have gave him the $100 for coming out and suffered without the air until I could afford it.The $325 was for food and other things for family. At that price it was not a priority to fix before getting groceries.I told steve the price was large.he said he does not make the prices. That set me off in my head.I gave him the money to get him off my property knowing that I would make a complaint to the owner of the company. Complaining to a employee is useless since I believed he was making up his own price since I had no estimate before hand.
Final Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2016/09/12) */
The only thing we have is our invoice that was signed by Mr. [redacted] where he acknowledges the work has been completed. As I stated previously, he was there with us while we were fixing his unit.
If Mr [redacted] wants to bring our parts back to my office in the next 30 days, at a time he works out with me, then I will refund him his $225.00. Its the best I feel like we can do.
