Commercial Auto & Diesel Electric Reviews (2)

Review: My vehicle was bought at an auction new, never registered (It had suffered flood damage on its way to the dealer from the manufacturer). It was in full drive-able condition with some of the electrical components not working (a/c, radio, speedometer, brake lights, etc) I was given an estimate of $410, with a discussion that aftermarket parts will be sought to fix the issues to get this registered with DMV. That was over a year ago on 6/16/14. At that time, I regularly followed up to check status and even bought some parts on [redacted] on their advice, but I got repeated response that this was 'being looked into' and is a low priority job as this was being done cheap. They then moved the car to another shop, and then only on 8/14/2014, after many many visits, I agreed that all the repairs will be done for $1600 and the car will be delivered to me by 8/22/14 or I will get a $20 per day credit on the bill. But they again failed to deliver and now have asked me to talk to the other shop directly where they moved the car. They are now (latest invoice 6/2/2015) asking over $2400, and I do not even have any idea what will be repaired and what will not. I went to my county courts to seek advice, but they said I can only file small claims, but I can first try to contact BAR for a resolution. I just want to have my car back in the condition I gave it to the shop, so that I can have it repaired elsewhere. I am ready to forgo the non-use of the car while it was in the shop.Desired Settlement: I want the vehicle returned to me in the condition it was given to the shop. I will pay for any parts they installed, if they show an invoice. I will not pay for any labor, as no work was done to fix any of the issues in the repair order.

Response:

In respond to your correspondence, dated 7/2/2015, first let me apologize for the delayed respond. We have been away on vacation when the letter was received. As to the content of the letter I'm unsure where to begin. Much of the content is inaccurate, and/or incomplete. This matter has been reviewed by the B.A.R. and the case has been closed, after finding we were in compliance in all our duties as a service provider and with regards to this particular customer and the service we've provided him.We regret that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with his purchase of the 2013 Mini Cooper, but our sympathy is all we're able to offer, other than the estimate of repairs which Mr. Shounak De has declined.Respectfully Submitted,[redacted]Owner

Review: I called Commercial auto and Diesel to see if they had time to take my truck in that week and they said yes.I had auto club tow it to their shop. The alrernator was overcharging the battery. A previous shop had added a regulator to the charging system and the regulator had failed. I asked them to fix my truck. They kept my truck for two weeks. They never once called me to tell me what was on. At the end of the first week I started calling them only to be put on hold with no one returning to the phone or told that some one would call me back and they never did. When I finally got my truck back they had put another regulator on it. After driving the truck for an hour I had my check engine light come on in yellow a couple of times and only for a few minutes and then go off. I took the truck back. They said it needed a crankshaft sensor. I called them back and told them to put it in. They finally called me and said it was ready. When I went to pick up the truck it was Friday. I paid then got in the truck and the check engine light was on in red permanently. When I got out and told the the tech the light was on he said they must have forgot to clear it and it would only take a minute for him to do it. After waiting 40 minutes in the heat, as they have no waiting room, I said I had to leave and to call me when it was ready. They called me the next day and said it was done. I got another ride down there on Saturday and when I got in the truck the check engine light was still on. No one was around that knew anything about it and my ride had already left so I took my truck home. I called the owner on Monday and told him the light was on and he said anytime you modify a system like putting a regulator on that it would make the check engine light stay on permanently. He said we could fix it right if you want us to. I took the truck to a friend who used to work at a shop it took him less than a half an hour to find a short in a wire and fix it. I no longer have a check engine light issue.Desired Settlement: People need to be warned about places that practice business as poorly as these people do. It is doubtful that I needed my crankshaft sensor replaced, but cannot prove it.

Response:

My ultimate desire in this situation is to resolve it in an equitable fashion and perhaps shed some light on the facts as I understand them.
