Review: I went to el gallo commissary Saturday 5/28 and purchased some groceries I got meat a 3 pack of ribs that were $47.99 and I got them frozen and put them in the freezer when I got home. Well few days later, Wednesday 6/01 I unfrozened it and a strong odor came out of the package the ribs were completely rotten. I called the store and spoke with the owner I believe and he told me he wasn't responsible? I'm upset that he didn't even bother to say to take the meat to him so he can inspected it or atleast asked if we wanted our money back or store credit. What kind of business is this?Desired Settlement: I would like to health inspection to go check there business because I don't think they run a proper business.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because I myself don't understand how the ribs could have been rotten I understand that you run test for the safety of your business and your customers. As soon as I arrived home I put them in the freezer, four days later I unfreeze them and they had been rottened. I'm upset yourself as the owner didn't want to become responsible no store credit or an exchange that was $47 thrown away. Of course I was concerned about my propane tank it was nearly 100 degree outside and I was concerned if it was safe to be in the car for an hour.

Response:

Like we had said before. We are under USDA inspected everyday, Monday through Friday. We take temperature of all meat product that arrives to the Commissary, to insure quality. The ribs arrive Frozen and go straight to the freezer. Our freezer and fridge are monitored 24/7 and an employee manually checks the temperature twice a day during business hours. When a customer ask for ribs, all we do is pull them out of the freezer, put on scale, place price tag and hand them over. The package is never opened. When reviewing the cameras of that day a little after 2 pm (hottest time of day) we could see the pack of frozen pink pork ribs. We also reached out to vendor to ask if there was any other incidents, he responded with “no all clear”. We have a sigh posted on fridge door and in walk in saying “UNDER USDA THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES OF ANY RAW PRODUCTS IN THIS FACILITY, POR EL USDA NO HAY INTERCAMBIO NO REMBOLSO DE CAREN FRESCA U NINGUN OTRO PRODUCTO RESCO”. To quote Mrs. [redacted] “Of course I was concerned about my propane tank it was nearly 100 degree outside and I was concerned if it was safe to be in the car for an hour.” Here she says she was more concerned about propane than groceries. I will be sending a Food & Safety information pack provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for future reference. We do apologize if this was not the response she was looking for but we have store policies to follow as well.
