Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/10/19) */
To whom it may concern.
We did pour a patio for [redacted]. We worked with him and his son [redacted], two very nice gentleman. We originally met up to discuss the back patio options. [redacted] did not want to spend the money on concrete pavers so we...

opted for the concrete option. I explained to him for a little bit more money we can color it and sweat trowel the concrete to get a nicer looking patio for a little more money. I explained to him I had existing colorant from previous jobs and wouldn't charge him if any two of those colors worked. We poured the patio and used the colors I had. [redacted] and [redacted] both liked the way the patio laid out except for around the steps and it had more of a drop off then they liked. We added dirt and installed vinyl edging around the patio which was not part of the original bid. We also discussed the options for under the stairs. At this time they did not want the treated wood material in the concrete so I gave the option of lifting the steps and filling the gaps with hydraulic cement. I also offered to have a stainless steel piece of metal cut to separate the wood stairs from the new concrete but they did not want that option. We lifted the stairs and filled the gaps with the hydraulic cement. To what they asked for. At this point the issue went to the frost joints that were cut. They said they were to wavy and there was a spot were it was to wide ? They wanted me to fill them with a patch cement and I refused as my professional opinion would look a lot worse. I explained to them to drive around and look at any other concrete and out lines were well within satisfactory. The last time I sent my guys to the property [redacted] had a raised tone at my guys and at this point I took it upon myself to decide to not return to the property. In 12 years I have never had this issue and took it upon myself to just separate myself as I do not argue with customers. I thought we handled ourselves in this situation the best I could. [redacted] would call me with one thing and then [redacted] would call me and I would explain again the situation and tried my best to explain things in between the two. It seemed like they were not on the same pages. I have nothing against [redacted] or [redacted] they are just a tough persons to please. I apologized we could not meet there standards and left it at that. [redacted] had stated he paid me $5,000. That is untrue as the original estimate #5433 was $4800. I gave [redacted] $200 off the original estimate and with 2 invoices, numbers #4277, #4278. He had paid a total of $4600.00. I believe with the $200 off, the additional edging and dirt work, along with we poured the patio a little bit larger than originally planned by going under the deck stairs I believe we fulfilled our end. There is nothing wrong with the patio structurally. It is a strong , solid patio that will last many years. I do apologize once again for anyones inconvenience.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 10, 2015/10/29) */
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 14, 2015/11/03) */
I had another company come out and look at the patio and they said that it was very badly done, and that it would need to be broken up and replaced. Considering you advised me that I am too fussy and picky, and that you cannot do a better job, I am requesting that you refund the full cost of the job so I can hire another to do it properly.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2015/11/05) */
[redacted] had accepted the last response. Now he has changed his mind again ? He had a random company come out to look at my product. What do you expect them to say, " Ya it looks great, I wouldn't do anything." Let me guess, they want to tear it out and redo it ? I bet they said they can give you a bid on it and do it for you. What company wouldn't say that. [redacted] gave me 50% down when we started. Paid the last 50% when we were completed after he saw the final project where I believe we went a little over and beyond our bid with additional edging and finish work to make him happy. He saw the final product and paid me the last payment, which was $50 less than the final invoice was for but I didn't say anything. Then changed his mind ? The patio is a solid 4" patio with fiber mesh and rebar, properly spaced and depth control joints. The patio will last a lifetime. There are no defects that are threatening to the life or the integrity of the concrete.
