Our customer contacted us 6/22/requesting our service to ship a cedar chest weighing 65lbsHe asked if we would pick up the chest, which is not our policy, but agreed to do so for himWe did not charge him for this extra service, which was a mile round trip Customer
shipped two packages from our business on 7/3/A silk palm tree at a cost of $shipping plus box total of $Arrived without incident A cedar chest with contents at a cost of $shipping plus $packaging fee (includes double boxed, 2inch styrofoam sheets surrounding chest and labor). total of $ Customer packed the contents and we packed the cedar chest Carrier called our office 8/15/informing us the cedar chest had arrived damaged and claimed responsibilityThey quickly paid their obligation of $275.10, which we refunded to our customer The check cleared the bank 9/11/We submitted the claim to our 3rd party insurance which is the primary insurance for our shipmentsProvided all the photos and proof of value that our customer sent to us, as well as the repair bill for the cedar chest As of date we are still waiting on the settlement We have not receive any additional paymentsThe insurance requested a full length photo of the chest since the one provided does not show the damage, also needs a photo of the damaged box and packing materials Our customer said that he has provided all the photos he has available I have explained all this to our insurance and stated that the chest was the only thing damaged which appeared to have been dropped and the contents were not damaged They are still evaluating the claim

I am rejecting this response because:
The cedar chest was not the only thing damaged the wooden silverware case was also broken!and I insured this shipment for $1,and it was packed poorly and I received it damaged !them saying they contacted the third party insurance and are waiting, basically telling me I am st out of luck is unexplainable! They should make it right no matter what ! Why don’t they cut a check and count their losses. I am not the only customer that has had the same problem with this place!this whole ordeal is Sad , because they provided a service and let the customer down!

I understand that he wants to have the full $1500 paid to him. Shipping insurance does not work thatway.  Proof of value must be applied and then evaluated by the insurance company.FedEx paid the customer $274.10 promptly and the primary insurance after a lengthy and detailed evaluation will pay the balance $22.37.
