*** *** and *** *** got the benefit of five weeks of advertising and was emailed a digital copy of the ad that ran We have refunded the sum of $which includes one week for which *** *** should have been charged. We stand by our position that we never made any representation as to Caribbean Life being distributed in boxes, yellow or otherwise, because this is just simply not the case Also, there was no communication from *** *** about the fact that there were no “yellow boxes” until April *** , five weeks into the advertising run. At this time *** *** responded to correct *** ***. We always work to maintain best practices in our relationships with our clients, which is why we have done our best in trying to resolve this issue. It is unfortunate that *** *** and *** *** have not deemed our efforts sufficient. We assert that we provided a very fair resolution

n February [redacted] of [redacted] entered into an agreement with Community Newspaper Group to run 13 advertisements in Caribbean Life Newspaper through the end of May. During the initial meeting with [redacted] and her team, our [redacted] spoke about many of the features of...

Caribbean Life Newspaper including circulation, method and areas of distribution, advertising sizes and rates, and editorial. At no time during this meeting did [redacted] discuss distribution via “yellow boxes.” For 24 years Caribbean Life has distributed every week at high-traffic interior locations throughout Brooklyn, not at exterior locations. Hence, we do not distribute Caribbean Life in exterior boxes, but rather in interior racks and countertop locations. [redacted] whose trustworthiness is beyond reproach, did not mention yellow boxes in this meeting nor during any subsequent conversations with [redacted] or her team.
After [redacted]’s first five ads of the schedule she asked [redacted] to discontinue running the advertisements and claimed “lack of response.” She also asked for a refund of the full amount that she had paid to that point ($1800). It was also at this time that [redacted] claimed that [redacted] misrepresented Caribbean Life’s distribution through “yellow boxes.”
At this point, as a sign of goodwill, and understanding that the customer wanted to end the agreement, we decided to allow [redacted] and [redacted] to opt out of the contract ($2925 commitment) with no penalty, and to refund $900 of the $1800 that had been paid up to this point. We would credit the cost of the fifth ad ($225) to no charge and would refund the additional $675 that was paid for the sixth, seventh and eighth ads that did not run. [redacted]’s only responsibility would be for the first four ads that ran in the newspaper for a total of $900.
In spite of our best efforts to resolve this situation amicably, [redacted] demanded the full amount back, even for ads that had already run. At this point I also called [redacted] to discuss the matter and she repeated to me that her demand was the full amount. Some back and forth phone calls ensued, and after I left a final phone message for [redacted] we received a notice from the Revdex.com.
It is unfortunate that because of [redacted]’s desire to get out of a contract, that Caribbean Life’s and [redacted]’ honesty are being called into question. We feel that our offer was fair and we hope that [redacted] understands that. Our long history in the community is a testament to Caribbean Life’s strong customer service credo and desire to see our advertising partners grow.
We wish [redacted] and [redacted] success in the future.

Review: Hi,

I'm a [redacted] for [redacted] located at [redacted]. That office owned by [redacted].

[redacted] serves Brooklyn community for mare than 25 years and for the last 6 years I'm working with him at his offices as a [redacted]. One of my duties is take care advertisement.

Until that time we advertised successfully with different advertisement agency's. That location open by [redacted] for one year and before even we open our doors [redacted], [redacted] came to offer his help. Than we went with other agency's for advertisement, but he kept coming and we sit down with him, my [redacted] and our front desk [redacted] discuss terms and conditions. Our main question was about distribution and I asked many times, if The Caribbean Life distributed by yellow boxes around the area.

[redacted] assured us that every Friday we can find Caribbean life in any yellow box. All above people fitness that. We advertised before and agency distribute newspapers thru those boxes.

[redacted] lied to me and other [redacted] staff. After I sign the contract and provided my personal credit card for payments he couldn't care for less. On Friday we start searching in yellow boxes for our add. Next day I called to [redacted] and sad that couldn't find any, next week the same. He told me that Those papers go fast, but nobody called as even we had very good specials.

We decided go with even more better specials, because couldn't understand why nobody calls? By that time my credit card was charged twice $900.00. Finally on April*, 2014 he sends me an email that Caribbean Life was never distributed by yellow boxes, it is distributed by Caribbean Restaurants. I left several messages with news paper a ###-###-#### for cancelling contract. Got a phone message from [redacted] that our contract cancelled. And left him a message that my Credit card should be credited for the amount of$1800.00. He didn't return my call.

[redacted] works 7 days a week. He excepts all Medicaid Insurances to help patients around stay healthy. Please help [redacted] receive his money back.Desired Settlement: Refund with apology to [redacted] and me.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[redacted] tells that he told me, [redacted]( [redacted]) in present of our [redacted] that newspaper distributed indoors only. It's not so and we did spoke about outdoor yellow boxes. Most information of business respond not correct. Nobody returned my calls until I send my complain to Revdex.com. [redacted] advertising his offices for 25 years and never had such problem. Last time that office was advertised by newspaper "[redacted]" to satisfaction of bough sides. And I did complain to [redacted] because we couldn't find this newspaper in yellow boxes around our area. I complained every week that it's not there and he didn't told me for several weeks that it not distributed to yellow boxes. After what I send to him email that now I understand why got no respond. If he would tell me in the beginning that it's not distributed in yellow boxes ,we never agree on that contract. So it is a very bad way to do business by misleading people and mention about contracts, penalties and other staff. I got witness to that conversation. They ready to witness in writing or in court if it comes to it. Our office knew what type of distribution we wanted and was promise ,but given. That's why I and [redacted] asking for a full refund. We would like to give another chance solving that problem now.
