255);">I can post your two proposals on here for you or I can resend them to you via emailThe first proposal, the work we preformed was the demo and installation of laminate flooring of the master bedroom floorAs well as the work for removing a back patio door and installing a new patio doorAll products purchased by you and installed by usThe remainder of the work was cancelled (demo of 2nd story bathroom ceiling where wood was present, bar counter-top and cabinet) due to you not knowing what tub and design of your bathroom you were wanting along with the counter-top So the full amount was not paid, only for the work that was completedYou had then contacted my office via email about continuing the projectYou had provided what you wanted doneI created a new proposal for you and you had signed it and returned it to usAll aspects of the new proposal were completedI had also deducted $from the total project which was $4,530, making the new total amount $4,Within the new proposal, I had added that you were going to receive a cabinet at no costThis was a gift from us to youI apologize that the cabinet was not what you wanted and yes we did discuss a final design on your cabinet and I had created a new proposal for that, still at no cost to youAll being said, I have no idea where your $refund is coming fromI am the owner of this businessI love the work that I do and enjoy meeting new people everydayI try to make people happy and always go above and beyond for all my clientsI try to offer all my clients different options in design and in ideasI sometimes will not charge my clients for small work, design changes or sometimes add-on's and surely have done one or two things for you which I know you are aware of and does not need to be mentionedThank you and have a great day

To whom it may concern,The clients have not given us multiple chances to fix the flooring, which can be seen in our full email correspondenceWe are more than willing to fix the issues that the clients are having with the flooring, just as we have throughout this entire projectWe
scheduled a meeting with them to look at the floors so that we could determine what issues needed to be fixed, which they cancelledSince then, they have refused to let us back in their home to fix the issues

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The cabinet was not a “gift”; nor were any other items listed in the contract. The point of having a contract is to set expectations for both parties in terms of the work to be completed and the payment expected for the work.
The first contract was $400 for handyman services and $2000 for projects (plus an additional $125 to install a ceiling fan)

Demo of Faux Beams in Master Bedroom (NOT complete – he left open holes in my walls and ceiling patched with boards)
Installation of Cat Door (complete)
Installation of shelves (3) (complete)
Installation of Bed in master bedroom (complete)
Installation of master bathroom doors (complete)
Installation of ceiling fan (complete)
3/16/15 Paid $525
Construction Bid
$2000 for household projects.
Demo of flooring in master bedroom and installing new flooring – complete 4/2015
Removing of back patio door (located in kitchen area) and installing new single inswing door – complete 5/2015
Removing current master bedroom bath tub and installing new garden tub – NOT complete
Demo of ceiling hardwood in second level main bathroom, painting bathroom at no additional cost – NOT complete
Installation of counter top in second level bathroom – NOT complete
Demo of bar countertop and trim. Installation of granite bar countertop in kitchen. installation of new trim and two wall switch plates. – Not complete
Custom made kitchen tall cabinet – NOT complete
Adding completion trim on/around fireplace – NOT complete
6/3/15 Paid $1500
5/27/15 [redacted]’s office sent me an invoice for $1500 for the work completed to date. I paid it on June 3rd. His office (Camille) instructed me to call when I was ready to have the bathtub and counter installed and reassured me that:
1 – [redacted] would complete the remaining work (unrelated to the bathtub and counter) when he installed the tub and counter; and
2 – The remaining work was still within the budgeted amount. There had been no discussions at any point that we had gone over budget.
There was still work that could have been completed that was unrelated to the kitchen counter and bathtub.
There were holes in my bedroom ceiling and walls where the faux beams were removed.
Demo of the ceiling in the second bathroom
Custom cabinet
Completion trim around the fireplace
But I agreed to let him wait until I had the counter and bathtub to complete the other work.
9/15/15 I contacted his office in September to schedule the remaining work. He informed me that the current contract was cancelled and he would not be able to complete the remaining work for $500 – with the reasoning that he now only employs “experienced professionals” so that the labor would be more expensive. Prior to that there had been no contact, or attempts of contact, between us.
He offered a new proposal – which I accepted – totaling $4500. In the end, he did deduct $200 for flooding my ceiling and kitchen when he incorrectly installed the bathtub drain in the bathroom above the kitchen. I paid $2265 on 10/6/15 and $2065 on 12/14/15.
The new scope of work included the same projects in the first contract. He listed the items that were not completed during the first contract as being provided “at no additional cost” – because I had already paid for them in the first contract – not because they were a “gift”. The cabinet was not a “gift”; just like my payment was not a “gift”. It was a deliverable item that I have paid for - twice.
First contract verbatim (items also listed above):
“The scope of the work includes,Removing current master bedroom bath tub and installing new garden tub (tub will be provided by client(s)). Demo of flooring in master bedroom and installting new flooring (laminate flooring, which will be provided by client(s)). Removing of back patio door (located in kitchen area) and installing new single inswing door (door will be provided by client(s)). Demo of bar countertop and trim. Installation of granite bar countertop in kitchen (countertop will be provided by client(s)), installtion of new trim and two wall switch plates. Custom made kitchen tall cabinet (client agrees on style/dimensions), which will be painted to match current kitchen cabinets. Adding completion trim on/around fireplace.”
Second contract verbatim:
“The scope of the work includes, removing/demo of bath tub in masterbath. Installing new tub and wiring electrical to newley installed tub. A access panel will be installed, this will be located on the opposite wall of newley installed tub. (client agrees on tubs design/style to be used), Tub will be inserted in built surround. Demo of wood paneling in second level main bathroom. Removing vanity top in main bathroom and installing new vanity top, demo of kitchen bar countertop and installing new bar top. (client will be providing both vanity and bar tops to be used) at no additional cost. Building a custom kitchen cabinet (client agrees on overall design and size). at no additonal cost. Installation of tile/backsplash (client will be providing tile/backsplash). Building of walnut butcher block countertop, butcher block will be sealed and finished.”
Cabinet contract verbatim (after delivery of the first cabinet that was not what was agreed upon)
“The scope of the work includes, designing and building of cabinet. This cabinet will be approx. 25"x18"x7'. Cabinet will be painted to the desired color and paint will be provided by the client. Cabinet will have one drawer on bottom part of cabinet, shevling located/built in the middle section of the cabinet. Upper cabinet will have two cabinet doors as well as lower section of cabinet.
