Review: During the contracted chimney liner and masonry repair in May 2015, large pieces of brick were dropped onto a home generator located at the base of the chimney. The contractor attempted to protect the generator with a thin tarp which was not able absorb the impact to the generator cover. Several large dents were made in the cover. When the contractor discovered the damage he assured me he would take care of replacing the cover and took down the model number information and the vendor who maintains the unit to contact them for the parts. Unfortunately I had already made the final payment to him for the completed work. When I had not heard back from the contractor after numerous calls over several weeks I reached out to the generator company on 7/24 and obtained a quote for the necessary parts to complete the repair. The price for the repair parts was $376.03. I forwarded this quote to the contractor and asked if he wanted to submit this information to his insurance company. He said that his deductible would be more than the cost of the parts and would rather just pay out of pocket for them. I have spent the time since them going back and forth trying to get payment. I have had many phone and email conversations with the business owners Tom and Tina S[redacted]. I have received numerous admissions of responsibility and promises to pay but they have not followed through on these promises to pay. The total cost of the repair project was $3660.00Desired Settlement: I would like the contractor to fulfill his agreement to pay for the damage he caused to the generator housing during the completion of the contracted chimney repairs in the amount of $376.
