On Saturday 7/15/at 12:am we received a call requesting a quote for a towWe quoted our standard rate of $per mile. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle we discovered that the vehicle was wedged under a guard rail at a wreck sceneThis information had not been disclosed to us
before we came out. Rates are different for wrecks because of the work involvedThe customer was informed of this of made aware of the process for insurance claimsHe indicated that he intended to make a claim and would be turning this in to his insurance companyThe customer gave a verbal approval so we proceeded to remove the vehicle from the guard rail and as the customer requested we brought the vehicle to your yardIn reply to a review the customer posted on our website we sent him this reply: As we have stated the total charges to pick up the Prius will be $cash$to work the accident scene and because of the nature of the wreck and the distance involved there is an additional $charge for extensive clean up and pulling it out from under the rail it was wedged beneathWe have agreed to waive storage on this until 7/21/If not paid and picked up by this date storage will be charged in full from the date it was picked up (7/14/17) at the standard rate of $per day We have not misled this customer in any wayWhen he decided to not turn it into an insurance claim we offered to waive storage fees for days to give him time to decide how he would like to proceed, however the bill for the work that was already agreed to would standThis was the response we received: We stand behind the charges and do not feel any other action by us is necessaryThis is only the 2nd complaint we have received against us in the years we have been in business. We strive to provide excellent customer service throughout the many stressful situations our customers encounter Sincerely, R*** M*** Campbell’s Body Shop *** *** *** SC *** 864-***-***
I did pay the $350 so I would not incur the $32 per day storage fees and the car has been picked up.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. The statement from Campbell's is not accurate. There was no mention of extra charge. I was on the scene and there was no extra work performed. He simply hooked to the car pulled it onto the truck and picked up a piece of a bumper and put it in car. The driver convinced me to take it to the lot and allow the insurance company to pay the bill. So from me paying it out of my pocket the bill should of been $144 and as soon as they thought the insurance company was involved the price more than doubled.
