the fuel gauge sending unitWe averaged multiple sources of labortime guides to give an estimate to remove the tank and begin diagnosisThis part of the job order was approved by the customerOnce the tank was removed, it was not obvious that the fuel gauge sending unit was the problem as the entire circuit involves the float assembly (in the tank), the vehicle's electronic control module (ECM), the instrument panel cluster fuel gauge, and the associated wiringThe fuel sending unit was obviously always the suspected bad part but due to the complexity of the circuitmore time was needed to prove that it wasn't a problem elsewhereWe have no intention of guessing what the problem is and replacing unnecessary parts at the cost of the CustomerAt this time the customer denied the approval to move forward with diagnosis and we were instructed to put the vehicle back together.The average time from multiple labor guides was to hours just to remove the fuel tankThe labor rate we charge is an hourThere should have been additional time added to the bill to diagnose the problem which was waived from the very beginning of the jobThe only thing the customer was charged for was removing and reinstalling the fuel tankEnclosed with this letter is the printed labor time guides that we used as a reference and the schematic that was associated with the problem to demonstrate all the Components involved in the circuit.This chain of events with this vehicle is unfortunate for both the customer and us as a companyWe strive to completely satisfy the customer and put forth much effort to provide service and advice at a fair priceIn this case, as per the complaint, the customer took advice from an "adult" instead of us which resulted in more cost to the customer and time the vehicle was in disrepairIn addition we are now in a position to defend our hard earned reputationAt this time cannot justify refunding the customers money due to the fact that we gave sound advice, performed the task of removing the tank and then was asked to not complete the job by the customer
