My child is enrolled in Compuhigh/Whitmore school She is about months into her 9th grade yearWe have high expectations for her achievement and Whitmore school It is not an easy program, but, it is thorough and properly accredited The staff is friendly and VERY accessible (during business hours) Her lessons are reviewed almost every hours even on the weekends and holidays Some of these other reviews have mentioned other schools that give instant feedback That must mean that the questions are all multiple choice Compuhigh classes encourage a student to think critically about the subject matter and lessons are answered with sentences and paragraphs (gasp!) How else could a distance education be sure that a student was grasping the concepts and not just finding answers on-lineCompuhigh is offering a great College Prep program that is a good fit for our family

CompuHigh is an online, private, accredited
high school.  We are accredited by
AdvancED which charges us with complying to very strict academic and
educational standards.
2.
Although [redacted] is a 26 year old
student she technically didn't qualify for our Adult Program. The Adult Diploma
Programs requires that student are able to provide us with a transcript from an
accredited school showing 12 high school credits.  LB only had 3 credits.
3.
[redacted] was enrolled in our regular
Diploma Program.  Students enrolled in
this program are allowed to complete 6 credits in an enrollment year.

[redacted] exceeded her allowed credits.  She had taken and been given 8 credits for
the enrollment year.  Below are the list

6.
Admittedly,
because she was 26 years old and had so few high school credits We
allowed her to submit some extra Life Experience credits.
7.
As she was working on the Life Experience
credit stated in this complaint the assignment she submitted didn't comply with
our standards.
8.
When we would not give her credit she
threatened us with taking her business elsewhere.
We communicated to her that it was her choice if she wanted to continue her
education at another school but if she was a student in our school she had to
comply with our standards.   We told her
that we were bound by standards set by our accreditation (AdvancED).
9.
When we refused to issue her credit, she
issued another threat.   She stated that
if we did not give her the credit she would report our school.  As an accredited educational institution,
this was behavior that could not be tolerated. Since she had already exceeded
her allowed credits we sent her a transcript with the 8 credits she acquired
from our school and told her we would not accept her re-enrollment.
10.  The
credit in question is a Life Experience credit which is an elective credit
only. This is a unique kind of credit we offer students over 21.  The following information is stated in the
introduction to the Life Experience course.
“Please note:  Not all
petitions for Life Experience are automatically approved. Your petition for
Life Experience will only count if approved by teacher of this course.”   The reason why this is in red font is
because  that is how it appears in  our course introduction to make sure that
students direct their attention to it.
11.  As
an accredited school we are charged and held to strict educational and academic
standards. We cannot issue credit based on threats from a student who has not
fulfilled the credit requirements.
12.  Upon
receipt of the signed registration form and tuition we entered into a contract
with [redacted] to provide her with 6 courses.. During her paid enrollment year [redacted] was awarded credit for 8 courses.
We have more than fulfilled our obligations to this student.

Compuhigh was upfront about their operations.
They advise Parent(s)/Guardian(s) to participate in checking their child's progress, but do not require it. The guidance counselors try to work with you the best they can in a lot of ways. The school encourages the student learn to pace themselves and be motivated to complete all 6 credits in the enrollment year. The school sends emails out to the email listed in the guidance notification/submission is if there is a period of time of no lessons being submitted. I personally recommend that you have both the parents and students emails listed in the submission box so both can be notified and updated.
Each class is a limit of 2 lessons a day per a class, if you have questions you may message though teachers message or under the relevant lesson.
It is 6 Credits a year. The school does what it can to give their students opportunities and lessons they can handle. If the parent or student feels that they need less or more of a work load then should discuss it with the guidance counselor. They are willing to help you come up with a solution that fits you.

PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS SCHOOL! WHY????
1) Is way over price.$1,500 per year/most online HS are 1,500 for all 4 yrs of HS.
2) It takes way too long for teachers to review and send corrections back. Since it's not an automatic correction system like most schools online. It would take teacher 2 days to get back to you even if you only have a question.
3) Teachers don't care about students. My daughter would ask them questions and they would just respond fix #3.
4) No text books at all. They just tell you to google subjects and write an essay. She had an essay for 3 classes every day and had to research info for all 3 and it would take her about 3 hrs to research per subject and another hr to write it. It was impossible for her to do that every day.
5) Math was just basic questions like you have 2,000 a month and you have to pay taxes and bills how much do you have left at the end of the month. Very simple you can learn that form basic little kids books.
6) They don't inform you anything. They say on website that teachers and counselor swill keep in touch with you and let you know when are not doing well. not true at all. My daughter was really behind and never send me an email to let me know.
7) They are dishonest. They gave my daughter Eng, creative writing, and psychology for the 1st 3 classes. I feel because she won't be able to write essays every day for the 2 elective subjects and not finish in time so I would pay them another year. Why would you give the harder electives 1st instead of the 4 basic subjects ? I can't find a purpose other than for her to take longer and not finish on time.
Please listen to me and don't give them a chance. I did and lost $1,500. I should of known something was wrong when on their students reviews the kids are saying it was really hard but my teacher help me finish on time. I only saw the good in that without thinking why all the kids are saying it's hard. Yes, they make it really hard for you to finish on time so you would pay them another year. And lik I said teachers don't care if you finish or not. They won't even take the time to answer questions. We were station over seas so calling make it almost imposible but even if you called they would take 2 days to correct your paper per class. You won't find this type of reviews on their website because they only put the good ones in their website. Hope this can help you with your decision. I now found another online school that charged me $700 for the 2 yrs of HS she has left and has been able to finish 5-7 classes a day if she spends 5 hrs doing work. I'm so sure she will be able to finish the 2 yrs of HS in one year since the program is automatic and let's her know her grade right after she is done with the quiz or test.
I have no reason to lie to you. I'm just a parent that wants the best for you and your child and would like for people to know the truth about this school. DO NOT ENROLL IN THIS SCHOOL!

My daughter is finishing up her first year with Compuhigh (9th grade) and we love it. The teachers are very interactive and attentive and the guidance counselor has been very diligent in communicating with me every week about her progress. It is NOT an easy course. Although they do not require textbooks there is still a lot of reading, research and writing that is required. My daughter happens to be diligent and hardworking so she has excelled a the coursework but she has had to work hard. With regard to text books we LOVE the fact that we are not required to buy a bunch of overpriced books when the material can all be found on line. I recommend them highly but would caution that it is not a program that will work for students who are trying to finish the coursework quickly. There is a lot of trial error, back and forth until the coursework is "mastered" so sometimes it can take several tries before one lesson is finished.

Hi i'm currently enrolled in Compuhigh online course and my experience has sucked . The course I take is algebra 1 and first off my teacher is very very slow and I can only post 2 things a day that means questions and answers and how can I understand each lesson if I can only ask two questions a day ? Second, when my teacher does reply her answers aren't good at all, she always directs me to [redacted] and never breaks down a problem so I can understand it better and always seems to drag the remediation along , by the way remediation is if you get a certain amount wrong they make you give exact explanations and when teachers take up to 4to5 or 6 hours to respond that tends to drag things along, I got reply's after 5 hours like incorrect for 5 problems and no explanation nor did she even try to break it down for me , So if you need a summer school class or home school class or anything don't come to compuhigh my dad wasted his money don't do the same..Also the part in which they try to teach is horrible. I seemed to come across about 5 problems that did not have examples so I could get it for myself so please don't make the mistake there are other summer and home school online classes available.

This is our final
response.
CompuHigh
Whitmore School is an accredited private online High School. The complainant
paid tuition for 1 year, which includes up to 6 credits. The complainant took
and received credit for 6 courses. We therefore have fulfilled our contractual
agreement with the student. We allowed the student to apply for additional "Life
Experience" credit because the student had very little overall credit, and we
wanted to help her graduate in a reasonable period of time. As explained to the
student, Life Experience credit is not automatically given. Here is what is said
in the course introduction "Please note: Not all petitions for Life Experience are
automatically approved."  It is written in red here, because it is written in red in the course introduction
for
emphasis.
The actual topic, and the presentation of the petition must meet our standards.
When asked for revisions to the topic and to the actual presentation of the
topic, the student made the following threat to the instructor "If you refuse
me credit, I will pursue this in every education and business channel possible,
and in every informal channel that modern age offers so easily, for long as
necessary." That is the nature of the complaint that we are seeing here.
Although it would be easy for us to issue a credit and be done with
this, as an accredited educational institution with high standards, we cannot
issue course credit based on threats.
