I went to them with a computer monitor display problem. They replaced the motherboard. NOT THE PROBLEM.I went to them with a computer monitor display problem. The connection was DVI which they said they were unable to handle in their shop. So I left the computer and the monitor with them. They said I needed a new motherboard. I authorized that but upon installation the monitor still did not work. They tried to fix it via a new (software) driver but that did not do any good. I took the computer and monitor to [redacted] where they quickly, and at no charge, determined that the monitor - not the computer - was not operational. I bought a new monitor (still with a DVI connection), quickly found a driver, and now everything works. THEY DID NOTHING! They said they would "work with me" to fix the issue, but they were fixing the wrong issue and won't admit it. [redacted] fixed the issue quickly. C-S-C doesn't even know what a DVI connector is. Desired SettlementI am willing to cover at least part of their cost of the motherboard (their cost, not the list price). The total charge was about $250. I estimate their cost to have been around $75. I am [redacted] out of $175 and I want it refunded.Business Response On May 19, 2014 Mr [redacted] brought in his monitor, I test the monitor in his presence, monitor worked fine. On May 20, 2014 Mr. [redacted] checked in his HP Desktop. Mr. [redacted]'s original complaint was, Video issue, Lower Video Port. Under warranty from [redacted].My suggestion was to add another video card which was the cheapest solution. Customer said that his warranty from ** may have expired but his system is covered with [redacted]. Mr [redacted] added that he would have motherboard replaced as it's under [redacted] warranty. We proceed to replace motherboard. After replacing motherboard, the system worked fine.Later he called us for screen resolution issue. We asked him to bring both his CPU and monitor, and we fixed it as it was a driver/software issue. Later Mr [redacted] found that his warranty from [redacted] has expired and started complaining that motherboard was never an issue therefore he should get his money back, and dispute the charges with [redacted].Surveillance video is available upon request.[redacted]Consumer Response [redacted]Secondly, the vendor's recapitulation of the events reasonably leaves out entirely that the driver he supplied was useless. The entire idea that the problem was with the motherboard was wrong. The entire issue was easily resolved by replacing the monitor! My subsequent request for a partial refund was based on my having to purchase a new monitor. My request for a refund of $185 would still have given the vendor $75 to cover the motherboard (which I never needed). That plus the approximately $140 I paid for the monitor comes to $215 out of my pocket. Sounds pretty reasonable to me, but the vendor would not even respond to my email.Consumer Response In order to insure the completeness of this complaint, I submit the following. [redacted] ([redacted]), the credit card company involved in this dispute, has credited my account with the approx. $185 I requested as a refund from the vendor. I responded to [redacted] and told them that if and when the vendor refunds me any money I will send this money on to [redacted]. I consider this complaint still UNRESOLVED since it is the vendor's ethical duty to carry out the refund. In the event that the vendor chooses to comply with this, I will not benefit in any excess. I extend my thanks to [redacted] and Revdex.com as honest brokers in this dispute.
